You aren't reading the requirements correctly. Most job reqs for recent grads say as long as you obtain you degree within the next 9 months or the past 9 months, something to that extent.
Bump.
I've been looking into working in the government. I graduate in December with a degree in Business with a concentration in marketing and I live in the DMV area. I look into usajob.gov and see so many positions for recent grads but, the requirements are a degree so I'm always sol. Gonna apply for the trainee positions now I guess.
Within the next 3-4 years I want to move out to California tbh and have some exp in web design

Doesn't take 10 months to be contacted lol between 1-3months max. Just apply for everything doesn't matter, your likelihood of being contacted needs to be as high as possible. Iv'e applied to atleast 30+ positions (probably much more) and have only landed 2 jobs on USAJOBS.Ok, Im just gonna start shooting 3 pointers at the postings. Hopefully things workout. These government jobs take 10 months to actually contact you
there are a decent amount of opportunities that list marketing as a preferred degree in the DC area...many communications/outreach/advocacy jobs have them, unless you are checking for corporate/agency stuff ...
Hmmm I'm just trying to get into the industry by anyway. It sucks that majority of the jobs are in NYC/Cali. I live close to DC and its not that much stuff for marketing here. If I had the $$$$ to move to a different state I would
So you applied to like gs-09 jobs?Doesn't take 10 months to be contacted lol between 1-3months max. Will post my starting salary in a few weeks in negotiation process now .
Yea I was looking into ad agency type stuff. But really Imjust trying to fit in anywhere since I get my degree in decemberthere are a decent amount of opportunities that list marketing as a preferred degree in the DC area...many communications/outreach/advocacy jobs have them, unless you are checking for corporate/agency stuff ...
NGOs/non-profits/trade associations etc all have external affairs/development (fundraising)/business development departments where marketing backgrounds are not uncommon
GS-07. I'm pretty sure you dont qualify for GS-09 jobs they require a Masters or 1 year of related work at GS-07 level. So you applied to like gs-09 jobs?
How are the interviews?GS-07. I'm pretty sure you dont qualify for GS-09 jobs they require a Masters.
First one I didnt have an interview, second job the interview was basically behavioral questions. I'm a CS major, so my interviews are different than yours. How are the interviews?

I don't do any cover letters. How many of you guys send cover letters out with every app? I cant see sending out 100 apps all with different cover letters
how come?Tired of this contracting life.
no previous experience. I am not on the creative side, I purchase national air time for several clients. all you need is a college degree for entry level positions (non-creative).

Out of curiosity what agency are you at?
I'm also a creative and I started last year at 50k.
Now I make slighty more :x It's just a matter of time and moving agencies to get a decent raise.
Recompetes are a *****. Company has been the incumbent for the contract for the past 14 years, and its very likely we'll win, but we've been on extensions all year. Its stressful not knowing if youll have a job at the end of the year.how come?
...asking because I've seen quite a few contracting opportunities that i feel like would be interesting
Just got a job.
Average salary for a new grad for Physical Therapy is like $74k. The company I'm working for counter offered me $95k, I start as I get my license next month.
