Not everyone is clear on these distinctions. When it was announced, many were very confused and not until Whedon explained the loopholes that people started to know but to this day, there are still plenty who doesn't know. As we get closer to release, you'll see more of those questions I am sure.
But there's a clear answer and then a little mystery to that. Good mystery, like how are they gonna work around it...not bad mystery like 'is that Khan or not' or...'are they ******* this up?'
I am not arguing if it is bad mystery or good mystery, the discussion was on the rumor. If it were true, will Whedon get a pass or flack for it? If it's not true and Whedon pulls it off, then cool.
Not going to get into Star Trek since I just like the film, not really a fan like that so the Khan thing wasn't as a big a deal it was for others.
Fox had nothing to explain...they own Magneto, own the X-Men, can do whatever they want.
There shoulda been nothing to talk about if they put SW & QS in...they invented the bad buzz themselves.
And? I am not saying Fox has to explain anything, not sure where you are going with that. I am saying Whedon gets excuses made for him and he gets a pass while if Singer simply puts SW in that costume, he'll get flack for it. Not arguing about the bad buzz on Fox either or DC. The discussion was mainly on Whedon and whether he is on Nolan "can do no wrong" status right now, other studious crap should have no bearing on it.
Again it's a rumor we'll just have to wait and see if it fleshes out.
Remember that Pietro was listed in the computer in X2 when Mystique hacked the government files and he was also in Origins in one of Strykers prison, he was running around in his cell while bound by some elastic binds. So you really can't say Singer of Fox did it just to do it, sure seems like it but they have teased him before.
But you said these weren't prequels.
But you say they are though?
So they are a prequel to prove your point but they aren't prequels once the point moves around in your favor?
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter though, why does it have to be the same guy from the same timeline? The point is they used him first and already had it planned from the get go, X2 was a clear tease, maybe (just maybe) Fox didn't just put him in DofP to F with Marvel, Singer might already be thinking of using him but did not get the chance when he dropped from directing X3 and First Class? All speculations of course but I was just pointing out that he was there and Fox has planted the seeds 5 years even before Ironman releases.
I mean really just more inconsistencies if you think about it, Origins had a young Emma Frost and in 1st Class they have a fully matured Emma Frost. First Class was clearly from the 60s while Origins was clearly more modern. If you really want to believe or they want you to believe that is the same QS through the whole franchise, then they'll do it and you'll be fine because you consider none of it are reboots, right? Even if none of it make sense?
