IW is gonna be the quickest film to break a Billion because of the mostly simultaneous worldwide release. It’ll do it in about ~10 days. The record is Star Wars: The Force Awakens which did it in 12 days. The word of mouth will determine the legs but this is more than likely going to be Marvel’s magnum opus just from the amount of fan favorite characters, new characters introduced, budget and run time. World wide gross will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.7-1.8 bil. If the movie is truly flawless in execution, expect it to command screens the whole summer box office season as THE summer blockbuster of not only 2018 but the decade. For 2 bil to happen it would take overwhelmingly positive word of mouth but this movie definitely has a chance.

I think my initial post was taken the wrong way. I think a movie like infinity war SHOULD be 500 mil. I want marvel to keep releasing movies with 500 mil. But if it doesn't hit a benchmark, shareholders will question the budget retrospectively.

Only the Avenger films need that kind of budget, all the other films should be fine from 200 to 300 mil

If we’re talking about Marvel’s two-part The Avengers: Infinity War, it’s wholly possible. And the only reason we’re dipping our toe into this discussion is because Bleeding Cool posted some borderline wonky math to conclude that the combined production budget for two upcoming Avengers movies set to drop in 2018 and 2019 will come in at $1 billion.

Lol 250 mil isn't cutting it for IW... RDJ's salary alone is supposed to be 200 mil for both movies.

He was able to get a 500 mil budget for IW because of Marvel's track record. But any slip can force other executives to step in, of course.

Depends more on the cinematographer.

Thor Ragnorak was shot on 6.5k (but mastered in 2k)

BP was shot on 3.4k

IW is being shot on 6k cameras
