I'd like to join everyone in welcoming Cap City as our newest sponsor and, of course, I won't ignore the elephant in the room.

Cap City, as many of you know, partnered with us for the NikeTalk New Era fitted cap back released in honor of our community's tenth anniversary.  We sold out in about 20 minutes and raised over $2,000 for the Children's Defense Fund in the process.  Cap City did such a great job that many of you have been calling for a new release ever since.

Now that Cap City is an official sponsor of our community, many of you have come to the conclusion that we've been talking with them about making your well-vocalized wish for new NikeTalk fitted caps come true.  I can confirm that's the case.  We hear you and we share your desire to make it happen.

There are a couple of points that should be made to keep everyone's expectations fair and in check:

1.)  It can't happen overnight.  Turnaround time for a project like this is significant.

2.)  We are restricted by material limitations and quantity limits set by New Era, not Cap City.

The original NikeTalk fitted caps were made with high quality cotton twill.  That's something that we've been insistent on, and I've explained the reasoning in the initial fitted cap thread:  http://niketalk.com/t/310346/all-14...d-thank-you-for-your-support/300#post_9526479  (quotes in pre-migration posts don't display properly, but you should still be able to figure out what's going on.)  This material is not always available in our choice of colors, which can impact the timetable and restrict what we're able to do creatively.  We simply won't have every color available to us.

There's also a limit to the number of caps New Era can make for a store.  Obviously any store that wants to stay in business needs to make money on as many of these caps as possible.  With the NikeTalk fitted cap, we requested that ALL the proceeds go to charity.

As a result, it's not fair to Cap City to ask them to produce, process, and ship thousands of these things.

That said, it's our goal to produce MORE than we did last time - and we're going to look into the possibility of running a poll or otherwise determining the most accurate size distribution to make sure that the eventual release is custom tailored to your needs.

However, please understand that it is going to take TIME and that there are some limitations here that we have to deal with - the blame for which rests on my shoulders.

Thanks meth, I think all many of us wanted was the ball to get rolling again. :hat

Just knowing it's part of the to do list again is exciting. Appreciate the explanation.

Are you guys ever going to carry Dominican winter league fitteds?

new fitted logo/design contest?

the first joint was nice n basic.

Think its time to spice the next one up a bit....we should be able to vote; 5 panel cap, snapback, fitted, or adjustable leather strap.

would love to see something more stylistic this time

anyone else?

Id vote snapback this time around. It makes things easier for sizing. I used to wear strictly fitteds. But recently its almost impossible to buy fitteds online anymore with the sizing. The sizing seems like it changes every time you order a hat now.

I get the snapback hate, cuz that used to be me.

But if its a fitted id pass since New Eras fit me anywhere from a 7 1/8 - 7 1/2

Id never end up with the right size the way New Era lets caps leave their warehouse.  And there's no way there would be enough for me to get in a size and try it to send it back and try again to find the right size

Guess we'll just see what the mods and ECapCity decide to do.

I think a 5 panel would be ideal all the way around from the youngsters to the older heads...
