honestly 480p vst 1080p on a 5.5 inch screen is not that big of a difference at the end of the day. We have done many side by side comparisons at work. Best of all it doesn't count toward your data usage, no other company offers that. So quit *****ing haha

yea tmobile changed the game. got all the other providers having to follow suit to compete.

verizon always had the reputation of being the best provider. i was able to finally have verizon on a trial. so its true, they do have better coverage in places you prob will never see yourself being lol. say in the cuts out in the country, or driving that long stretch of road with nothing around. not necessary data coverage, but just phone coverage. if my tmobile was on E in the middle of nowhere highways, verizon would have like 3G, or where my tmobile had 4G, verizon was on LTE. mostly i saw this as mentioned in places like roads or areas that normal civilized people who live in metropolitan cities would hardly visit lol

but there were several cases i was suprised my tmobile service pretty much had the same coverage and data speeds if not better in most of populated areas.

i mean obviously this test is just from my personal experience and yours will vary. this is in the Bay Area, CA. so yea verizon has better service, but i aint switching cause tmobile has the best rate and. that extra payment is not worth for coverage that wont matter to me. i guess if you always on the move or always find yourself in the cuts, pay that extra on verizon but if you mostly sticking in major "NORMAL" areas, tmobile is good.

sprint sucks period

Magenta getting the love. I remember all the slander they used to get. Been with them since the OG sidekick and I'm glad they've changed the game.

Been with them since the Sidekick 2 here. I'll always love those phones.

Honestly Sprint wasn't that bad for me. The key is gettin' a phone with that Spark Network available. I was getting that Spark LTE everywhere when I had my N5 but when I used my iphone 5 nothin'

ATT with the OD high pricing to bring back unlimited data. direct tv and uverse customers can get unlimited cell data again but its $100 for just the first line and another $40 for every additional line :rolleyes

Magenta gettin the love :hat Only thing they really need is low frequency spectrum for better in door coverage, issue is, they don't have the guap to compete in the auctions like they'd like to. VZW and AT&T buys all the spectrum and sits on it.

I switched to Verizon because my mom wanted to get a few of us all on the same family plan to save money.. and right when I do.. T-Mobile comes with all of these great new plans and policies
laugh.gif

Now we're all back on T-Mobile, saving a lot more money. Coverage is about 90% as good as when we had Verizon, but a couple less bars in one or two places isn't the end of the world for me.

i think they're getting their money up fast tho. they went from no LTE to a lot of the country covered in what....12 months? 24? they were on or ahead of schedule with that rollout so i give them props for the tech side, plus they've been adding customers every year, now they are number 3. not sure if i'd invest in their stock or w.e but i think the $$ stream lookin good lol

lol att and vzw always aim for the wallet hardbody. tmobile pricing is too good for me too leave.

having said that, no company is a greater ripoff than comcast. they rikers island rape u for speeds that are...offensive. im talking just internet. and that customer service :{ its so bad, it has to be by design.

Not all of Comcast's issues are by design - having terrible customer service loses them money, and they're aware of it. The issue is their corporate structure. They split their offices and call centers into different regions, and those regions can be very different from one another. Imagine you call Comcast to speak to a rep and get offered a promotion. If you decide against it, but call back to try to get it later, the employee in the new call center might not even be able to give you that promotion because their region does not offer it, meaning its literally unavailable to them. Those same differences in regions can mean that customers in the Southwest might see their channel lineup change by having new programming added, while customers on the East coast might see that same content disappear. They changed their support structure so that whenever you call about billing, you get transferred to a call center that only does billing. Need tech help too? They can't even transfer you to someone in their building, they have to transfer you to someone potentially across the country, who has no idea what's going on with you or the issue, which causes you frustration when you have to go over everything for the 5th time in a row.

Their dismal network maintenance and load balancing is definitely by design, though. I know a few network techs that contract, and they all say that Comcast does the least amount of work possible to keep their network afloat. They don't increase capacity when they see the network is under stress, and routinely forgo replacing equipment in order to save money. Its a shame because Comcast leases out their network infrastructure and many people think that they own all of the fiber and copper lines, but in reality it was paid for by tax payers. Comcast just finessed most municipalities out of their own networks.

Speaking of Magenta, if you are a T-Mobile customer, turn off Binge-On to avoid data throttling. Binge-On throttles multiple data types: https://t.co/Aqc74XF6Qp
But at the same time I dont have unlimited LTE ( I have 10 GBS) and Binge on lets me go stream crazy if I waned to.

This is true. For people without unlimited data, binge on is definitely a good way to use services like Netflix on the go. Just be forewarned that with BingeOn, even stuff outside of Netflix (like file downloads, streamming sports, etc) gets throttled.

T-Mobile is releasing a new MyAccount app soon, and hopefully that'll let people turn it off and on more easily.

Yea, I'm not tripping about BingeOn since I have unlimited data so turning it off wouldn't be an issue unless it's on my tablet. I only have 5gb on that and it comes through in the clutch when we're driving and the kids are in the back

Compare it to the Blu Life One X. It looks like a solid device and Huawei did a good job w/ the Nexus 6P, doesn't mean they'll do well w/ this since Google doesn't have any imput.

Do not get your mom a cheap android phone to replace her S3 eugenile gts eugenile gts . That was a flagship phone once upon a time. A cheap mid or low tier device will make her hate Android.

Does she need a new phone, or does she just need a new S3? I'd recommend getting a newer S3 or a new S4 instead. You can probably get a new S4 for less than the Honor 5X. She'll be used to the Touchwiz interface and won't have to adjust to a new type of phone with a new type of android skin, which is VERY different from Touchwiz.

This, of course, depends on your mom. Most older people I know can't just switch from phone to phone like that - they can barely get the phone they've had for years to work right. If she's not very tech-literate, try to keep her in the same ecosystem/design language so she doesn't have to start from square 1 again.

to be honest bros, i tried to switch her to iphone LOL. i can see why most "young adults" get their parents iphones. my mom is always ACCIDENTALLY changing something on android because --well you can. this is where iphone's cant do ***** OS actually keeps the phone reliable and working.

but shockingly my mom said she doesnt want an iphone HAHA. my plan was to give her my iphone 6, so i can go back to android. well that plan is gone.

she actually wants a new up to date phone. she'll know if her phone is a new "old" phone if i was to get her an older model lol. im not sure how she really feels about touchwiz. as long as shes had the S3 (since it came out) she still seems to fiddle around with it like she doesnt know lol.

i know therse a deal on the new nexus. whatever the current one is on amazon. for $250. at least its a more recognizable brand. the price point and features had me on the Huwei phone.

If you get her that Huawei, just make sure she's ok with what's basically a phablet

Don't know why people ignore the 2015 Moto G. Battery life on that joint is insane
I have the Moto G and I complete stand by this. However, the Honor 5X and Blu One X are head and shoulder above in speed and style. I will say go for the Moto G if you want to take the safe route(battery life, software support, bonestock UI.)
