I was gonna post the apk in here but then I checked it this morning and it was sayin you gotta be a verizon customer. Plus it may be against ROC.

I cant really say right now. Yesterday I was on the phone non stop *%%!%% wit it. So it went down fast. Today its been off the charger since 12 (long night means sleep in

) and im down to 74 and that is with streaming redzone for about a half hour earlier from a site I found after I saw the NFL app wasnt working.

So overall I would say it is better so far cuz with the streaming I prolly woulda been around 50 with stock.

i use calkulins EViO 1.2 RC with netarchys kernel ver. 4.0.2. my phone runs very smooth and i get awesome battery life with heavy texting, internet, trillian, and games it usually lasts about 14 hours with all that. I also use set cpu and clock to 1152000 at all times with the performance setting chosen. everyone from xda really likes the EViO rom so i suggest you try it out its the only one ive used since i got my evo and i never had any problems with it and all the new upgrades he brings out. When i look at all the rom threads over there i always see a lot of bugs but his rarely has any problems. For those flashing a new rom you can also download quickboot from the app store and using that you can go either reboot, go straight to recovery mode, or go straight to your bootloader it is an awesome app especially since i flash a lot of different kernels and what not. When flashing a new rom make sure to wipe your cache/and dalvik cache before flashing the rom or you will most likely encounter some problems (reboots, apps not working, random bugs, etc...)

pardon the ignorance but what exactly does "rooting" do? I just got android....should i do it?
Rooting can improve battery life or performance either by overclocking [speeding up your CPU] or by underclocking [ slowing down your cpu to conserve battery life]
Ability to load Custom Roms

USB/Wifi Tethering although you can use PDAnet USB tethering without rooting.

Load certian root apps like TitaniumBackup [delete bloatware apps loaded by carrier] Shootme [screen shot app] & etc

Recovery Flash - backup & restore your phone, save apps on SD card

Rooting is much easier now since OneClick came about
isn't the 'hotspot access' wifi tethering?

Yes, I rooted my phone 2 days after i got it. Best decision so far, I tether for free now. I also have a different rom set. Only scare is bricking your phone but after completing the process i seriously think you have to be slow or mentally impaired. I guess they have a 1 click root now. Do the research and if you feel like rooting is in your best interest then definitely do it.
all this is null and void if you own a nexus one...wifi tethering comes for free :-P
