I’m just asking in general. Like, is there expectation for the phone to be flawless?

I've traded back many phones to Samsung (even with cracked screens) they don't really care about much cosmetic issues from my experiece. They ask if screen is cracked, does it turn on/off and will you factory reset when you send back.

Take a picture/video of the phone before you send it in. I've read horror stories online.

Samsung doesn't process the trade ins. It's a third party company that does it

I was kinda worried when I traded my S23U for the S24U. One of the corners was very slightly dented in from a drop and there was a big scratch on one of the camera lens... and then these metal camera lens protectors I installed got stuck on each of the lens and I couldn't remove them out before I shipped my phone for trade in. I shipped the phone anyway and they didn't mark me down or anything when they received it ... I got my full trade in value.

I recorded the entire packaging of the old phone after reading horror stories about people trading in their phones so they couldn't deny my trade in. I made sure it was turned on with the imei and then turned off and then taped up and forced my neighbor to record it on their phone for me.
