One income used to support a family comfortably. Now both partners need to work in a more competitive job market with much more expensive housing/childcare/groceries/everything.

While I don’t personally find them to be beautiful, they are a very cool looking shoe and the design is appropriate for when they were released. An “advanced” looking shoe released in anticipation for a new millennium!

Unless by traditional family you mean women not working.
I hate to break it to you but communist societies have a history of breaking down such gender role barriers and encouraging women to pursue labor in every industry men are involved in. So lack of capitalism aint fixing that.
I never understood men's obsession with wanting to be the only one in the house working, im over here trying to retire early. So I don't let my wife slack on her career.

This is a product of glorification of past times in history no matter how dark they were. Honestly no race of people should yearn to live in the past. I think a lot of MAGAs are walking around with the mentality that as long as you were white back then sh*t was all good, but forget about people dying of diseases we only see in textbooks during medical school or dying during child birth. Let's just stick to the present and how to improve on it.

Not to derail the thread but it didn’t seem like he was talking about reality of circumstance but rather the mentality of thought. I understood his comment to mean that black people back then had more optimism / belief / conviction / community centric mindset and were a force for positive change in the (horrific) society around them. And now reality of today’s circumstances are improved from a numbers game perspective but that intensity of mental fortitude and mental strength and conviction toward driving change has wavered.
My unpopular opinion - obesity and opioids are a plague rotting the country from the inside out.

I'm well aware of the black experience pre civil rights & i'm living the black experience now.... which is why i formed that opinion. Just because it doesn't resonate with your feelings about how things are going doesn't make it any less valid.
If YOU learned anything from the black experience it should be that black people aren't a monolith & different ideas & issues should be taken into account even if it goes against the popular belief of the time.

So, the mindset of Black people before civil rights was better.
Also, the same mindset led to the fight for civil rights, which resulted in a worse mindset.
Therefore, the mindset of the past was worse because it led to the civil rights movement, which ruined the mindset of today's Black people.
But the pre-civil rights mindset of Black people was better.
We don't need to teach math or physics of finances to K-12 students. We need to teach logic.
Remember when you had to dress up to take a plane? Imagine that, dressing up to have the privilege to travel faster.
When a simple tetanus infection could disable your *** and keep you from working forever? When you could die of disentery?
Remember when it was fancy to shower more than once a week?
Remember how stepping in horse poop was an accepted and expected part of living in the city?
The good ol' days is now.

I see what you mean, however it won't be received well on this site. Can't say I fully agree but I see where you're coming from. Much more camaraderie and less competition amongst one another, of course less killing of one another in inner cities. Family unit was much tighter, everyone wasn't as self-centered. Supporting our own (such as business) now comes across as very contrived. Now there's a hollow unity only when certain situations occur (when it's time to condemn another race for something they've done to a black person).
