Unpopular Opinion(s) Thread

In the ‘burbs where I live I suspect it’s a lot of “house hackers” that are ****ing up the market too. People paying 40k over list because they’re going to literally have 3 renters living with them. Got 5 cars parked outside of a townhouse and ****.

With a couple of these audio books playing in the car

I never no clue about this stuff; what exactly is a "house hacker"?

So “house hacking” is a corny *** term for saying I have roommates, but I have a mortgage on the house. Basically, ppl buy a house with a walkout basement, claim the downstairs bedroom(s) as potential rental income, qualify for a house wayyy outside their price range based on salary alone because the rental income is factored in, then proceed to not only rent out the basement bedroom, but the upstairs 2-3bedrooms too.

So now their 2k mortgage is being covered by their 3 roommates. From a financial perspective, sure it works, but IMO, it drives up prices significantly in close in suburbs. A loan officer who I was briefly working with suggested it to me because that’s what he does, but I’m like bro you’re 33 living with 3 roommates, I’m not gonna live like that.

House hacking is a single living person that owns a house/townhouse and they're renting out the other rooms in the house/townhouse.

I def think that's a financially savvy individual thing to do, but I like my own space so I take that hit.

Yeah, I definitely get it from a financial aspect. I just refuse to compromise my life to penny pinch everything. Also, what do I look like at 30 telling my girl she need to put on clothes before she goes to the kitchen 😂

Have a friend that stacked their bread by living with roommates and driving a bucket in their 20s. Now they own a multi-tenant building with the rental income alone covering the entire mortgage/their housing expenses.

I definitely prefer having my own space but I'd gladly take a redo on my 20s if it meant no mortgage in my 30s. I just didn't have the insight or foresight to even consider that being possible.

Agreed ^

Had i known what i know now id have just stacked bread all my 20s and had roommates. don’t need a solo spot until you have a serious wife / gf.

That said, I’d probably also not go out to bars or clubs very often on a re-do and rather take the occasional trip to Amsterdam or similar for a week of paid fun lol. Probably spent $150k+ between 19 to 30 at the bar and club when adding up drinks, travel, hotels, etc etc. Relationships are exhausting and really hard to manage while also focusing on funds.

I see people getting all riled up about Trick’s opinion on Beyoncé can’t sing.

She’s can sing and a hell of a performer - but she’s not a vocalist like Jennifer Hudson, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Adele, Marsha Ambrosius, etc.

If anybody that can’t sing it would be Teyana Taylor

Beyonce isnt Jennifer, but she ain't far off. Her vocal control and power had improved immensely since she originally came out.

Her voice is powerful. It's better than Adele's. I'd disagree with Trick's assessment.

The suns are really good.

Never seen them play until recently

It would be nice to see cp3 get a ring.

I don’t think so BUT....you should place an authentic Las Vegas bet if you feel that strongly about it.

Edit: I hope my Clippers do it or at least the Suns.
Ahh so you izz a clippers fan. much love bro, with all due respect, i hope yall lose
