Anyone tryna play the race card in this debate needs to realize it is an American thing. When people from other cultures, including African cultures move here they adopt the diet AND the risk factors for many chronic illnesses that stem from unhealthy living habits and diets. So THINK and resist the urge to label obesity as a non-European trait. Obesity is just another one of the physical manifestations of health and economic disparities in this country. Being "plump" is seen as evidence of good living in many cultures, but you can be "plump" and healthy. The diets in those cultures don't consist of popeyes, mcdonalds and chinese food (a conspiracy by the chinese government to kill us all).
The biggest killers of Americans stem from chronic illnesses related to our weight, lifestyle and diet. No other population gets plagued by this more than the black community.
