Gun laws are way more stringent in NYC than in other parts of the country. That's why people are making it a big deal. The courts don't play that mess up there. Look at Shyne. Dude got 10 years with no video evidence. Troy Ave is actually on tape fam.

And different factors play into whether a person receives bail or not. Troy Ave didn't have any priors, and I'm willing to bet that's a judge facet of him being granted the chance to bail out.
