Insulation in apartment is ***, nothing I can do. Literally none of the windows are 100% closed. I see the air leaving every day.
current bill for July is $406. 4 roommates. Savannah, GA is around 95+ a day.

When you keep something plugged in. Like say a phone charger or whatever electricity is still passing through the transformer even when you are not charging anything.

So ac or no ac? I was alias told you should leave it on and adjust it higher when you leave, then cooler when you return.

You cant adjust it to 77-78 while you gone.
But just turn it off when you not home. That's basically what I do.
Come home, put it on 75...then put the fan on...Once it hits 75 then I turn it off.
I get home around 10pm anyhow...so it's cooler for me at night.

Switch from CFL's to LED's where you have lights on the most. They cost about twice as much, but you'll save a bundle over the life of the bulb.
- Wash clothes in cold water after 7pm if possible. I stick a load in at 7, then stick it in the dryer around 8:00 when rates are cheaper.
- cable boxes & refrigerators use the most electricity in your house. Can you do without cable?
- try only charging phones & laptops during the evening instead of keeping them plugged in all day.
- use blackout curtains & faux blinds with double pained windows. Those will keep your house well regulated during the extreme months.
- buy a cheap thermal imager (or your utility company might have a program to come out and do it) and find spots in your home that are lacking proper insulation and apply appropriate weather stripping.

My Gs that live in areas where the lows at night are 70 or below.....invest ($500.00+) in a whole house fan!! You open the windows, turn it on, and it just sucks all the hot air out of your house while sucking in the cool air from outside...so you get nothing but cool breeze just like an AC, and you only pay one time...cost to run is just like a ventilation/fan system.

Yeah, I am talking PS4, TV, XBOX 1, Receiver (a large sink), PS3, etc. Thats a few KWH just between those devices so I have to be conscious of whats connected.

Alot of the newer houses have these in them and it helps.. the places have double vents.. new air comes in old air comes out.

I know for the ps3 (the fat was a power house).. normal consumption 250 watts but on standby it was like 2-3 watts for me.. so i would say in your combo most of those devices would consume no more than 5 watts on standby.. probably no more than 30 watts tops.. so lets work this out in a formula.. if you arent running thse things for 12 hours a day.. 30x12x30 =10800 watts consumed in a month.. sounds like alot..but its only 10.8 KWH's used.. so yeah you used roughly a couple bucks..lol
