Im confused... or maybe I dont understand the game of basketball as much as I think... BUT WHY THE H3LL ARE THE WIZARDS LOOKING AT PG?????????????????? I would imagine they would want a big man whose presence could be felt and that can get us some boards!!! Someone who can also help on the defensive end. Maybe I dont know...

I love the Wizards BUT but but but ... nevermind... just wish everyone would have been healthy going into the playoffs! Oh well... *Dave Voice* "Tough Break" *Dave Voice*

As much as I hate cleveland and Lebron when they play us... im rooting for them and hope they take it!

Next year is our year though... the bench gained more confidence this season when they had to step it up a notch and pick up for the injured players... this will help.
 
^because we need a pure pg..gil needs to slide over to the 2..

a big man is our primary need..but we wont be getting anything "high" in value with bait like a haywood..besides oden and a few others, centers aren't the diamond category this year..our best bet would just be to trade down and maybe get a sean williams.

we aren't far from getting the pieces together..i know there are a lot of dissapointed bullets/wizards fans on here, but you have to look at what ernie grunfeld has done since his tenure started..

You can say the same for (in your words) "Ok" Caron--ALL-STAR Caron... Same for Stevenson IMO...

You couldn't say this for any other playerALLGO WIZARDS!

Tyson Chandler isn't that bad of a player...hes better than any big man the Wizards have right now

But I do think the Wizards should audition more big men than point guards as that is a bigger need

Workouts don't mean much. I'm glad they're getting a look at some of these bums up close and personal, hopefully that'll give them more motivation to trade down and pick up a vet.

True, but what's truly criminal about the 2001 draft is that the Wiz could've had Elton Brand in exchange for the #1 pick that year.

I'm a big MJ fan but how on EARTH do you pass up that deal? Only in your wildest dreams does Kwame become a 20/10 guy and develop even half the skill set brand already had.

Of course, if you do pick Brand up there you have to max him out and you don't sign Arenas. Still... I wish I could've seen MJ play on a squad with Elton Brand and Richard Hamilton. *sigh*

Yeah, but even without the injuries that team was dead in the water after All Star Break, unfortunately. Don't tell Mike D'Antoni, but word on the street is that if you don't play defense in this league, you're not going to win anything in June.

It doesn't help that Eddie Jordan only plays like a 7 man rotation. I don't care if you spend all your off time in an oxygen tent, it's a long season and player are bound to break down when exposed to that much wear and tear.

You gotta hand it to San Antonio, they were on cruise control most of the year and that's why they have a healthy team poised to roll over Cleveland for another title.

Ernie hasn't quite allowed that to happen.. So Kudos for that...

You know, the Bullets had a horrible track record in that regard but it could've been worse. They gave up Gugliotta and he never became anything. (Shouldn't have drafted him in the first place, but it's not like the original Wizard, Walt Williams, was anything) They let McIlvane walk and allowed him to sign the contract that wound up breaking the Sonics, caused Kemp to get jealous, force a trade to Cleveland, and then the lockout... well... long story short, I feel bad for his 58 kids right about now - but Washington fans dodged their namesake on that one.

Grunfeld's made the right calls in that regard so far. He let Jeffries walk, thank goodness, and didn't pull some stupid sign and trade to get pry one of the walking dead from the Knicks roster. We all see how that turned out. He gave up on Kwame Brown and pulled an All Star in return - which is as amazing a salvage job as you'll ever witness - and used Butler to replace Larry Hughes, whom he also wisely allowed to bolt. Cleveland's not really hurting right now - but trust that they wasted a LOT of their cap room on guys like Hughes and Damon Jones who are virtual nonfactors right now. They'll come to regret it sooner than later.

The Wizards, however, are in pretty good shape cap-wise. You've got one more year with Jamison and then there's a chance to upgrade the front court by letting him walk or sign him back at a reduced rate and add depth with the remainder. The biggest long-term threats to the Wizards are Arenas' ego and Eddie Jordan's coaching. I like Eddie Jordan as an offensive minded assistant coach..... but it's clear the team needs help with lineup management and, obviously, on the now abandoned defensive side of the court.

as a wizards game attender.. I root for them time to time.( no im not a fan..just like basketball)

I cant stand booing at etan or haywood. They are both bums, They need a big man..cuz sangolia aint gon do it.


I dont understand why not inviting a big man .. or traading their pick.

Whats wrong with bringing those players in for workouts? They're probably going to work out for EVERY other team too...its routine during draft team you work out as many players as you can so you can adjust your draft board.
 
The thing that is scaring me is that Arenas can opt out of his contract after this season. I hope an extension gets worked out, but what do the Wizards do if by the trade deadline there is no resolve in his contract situation? If you were EG, would you put your good faith into a guy like Gil and assume that he is going to resign, or do you do the ballsy thing and move Gil for another player(s)? This is going to be an interesting summer for the Wiz. We have tradable players, draft picks, and cap space. I want to see what EG does with roster moves this off-season. We got Pecker in Europe who is definatley going to be on the roster next year, JC Navarro possibly coming over as well, Vladimir V (2nd rounder in 06) playing well overseas, etc etc...

Off subject, Arenas really put pressure on the Wiz to give EJ a contract extension. I believe that this was done a little too prematurely, but they did everything in their power to keep Gil happy. The 7 man rotations and puzzling subsutution patterns are frustrating to watch as a fan. Why Andray Blatche rots on the bench rather than getting minutes over Arvis or Ruffin is flat out strange. I don't think that EG and EJ see eye to eye on certain facets of the team dynamic.

Going back to EJ, have you ever seen a coach struggle as much as he does when he is missing ONE of his big 3? I bet any NBA coach would kill for the opportunity to have 2 All-Star caliber players on the court at the same time, let alone 3. Why can't he manage a game when one or two of them are missing? I just don't think he is that good of a coach. Promises of playing improved defense is usually the norm at the start of each season. However, as we all know these are empty promises as we seem to get more inadequate (defensively) as the seasons go on. I liken the Wizards to the Dallas Mavericks (pre Avery Johnson). They had ol' Nellie running the show, and for what it's worth, they remind me of the Wizards of today. If we can get a coach in here with a defensive mindset, who still allows offensive creativity from the big 3, then I think we would be all set. Minus the loss by the Mavericks this past playoffs, this is a MUCH improved defensive team since the Little General took over...

this brings me to the draft...I am hoping that somehow Joakim Noah will slide past the 10th pick. This would give us an outside chance of A) landing him at #16, or B) potentially trading up to get him at an earlier spot. Why Noah? If drafted, he would instantly be our best defensive player. He would IMO fit nicely into the 5 spot along Jamison, Arenas, and Butler. He is a guy who won't look to create his own shot, but rather score on garbage baskets and put-backs. Not to mention his defensive prowress and hustle would be a needed shot in the arm for our starting unit. If we can't get him, I am real high (no pun) on

I think it could work, and AD proved over the last couple of games in the regular season and in the playoffs that he can flat out run a team.....I think his days of coming off the bench should be over....

I hope someone puts a bug in his ear, as I disagree with "Method Man" because I think there is immediate help for us at the #16 slot and #47 slots.

These days, the NBA Draft is worst than MLB draft--its a crap shoot.

Someone valuable WILL SLIP. Someone WILL get overlooked. Will our Wiz finally capitalize? All you can have is faith.

I think alot rides on what the 76ers will do. They hold three 1st rounders at key spots in the draft (bottom-top, middle, and bottom of draft) and can shake up things.

I'm not worried about Arenas... yet.

We need to get a big man who can give a good defensive presents and one who is not afriad to knock Prince James or D-Wade when driving to the basket.Noah would be alright but I about how he will react to having a mic in front of him all the time he tends he make crazy statements and already has said he dosen't care about playing in the NBA.A four year or three year college player would be nice seasoned mature guy.

Bust of this years draft:Brandon Wright all the NBA needs another tall lanky guy with big wing span who plays the four and COULD develope many skills to be KG or TIMMY DUNCAN,but currently lacks any real nba ablitly.

We'll see if anyone worthwhile does slip, but I just don't think we're better off with a guy like Jason Smith - particularly if we can land a proven veteran in the process.

If someone amazing slips, yeah, you call your potential trade off. If it's down to garbage like Jason Smith or Josh McRoberts, I'd trade down for Williams.

Jarvis was a beast coming out of Georgia. I believe that the Wizards were comparing him to Allan Houston at the time, but with more athleticism. As a Wizards fan, we have seen flashes of what Jarvis can do, but that has been nothing but a tease. He has obviously had problems with injuries, and I for one thought that he was going to play the best ball of his career this season in that he is playing for a potential contract. He has a beautiful release and smooth looking J in general, but if he is off...well, he is REALLY off. Anyways, I can't remember off hand, but he had a very good rookie year, and I think he increased his scoring average over 10ppg in his second year with the Zards...anyways, I hope the Wizards look for a big in this year's draft (Williams or Noah), but if not and the decide to look at a 3, then Derrick Byars should be around by 16....
