This Jussie Smollett Situation is REALLY Bizarre...

Not moving the goal post at all.

Gentleman basically asked me what should happen to people who waste the polices time?

My follow up to that is what should happen to the police who waste their time willingly?

Send them to jail too?

Acting as if that doesn’t take place just as much, if not more, than you crying about their “time being wasted” by others.

That’s laughable.

It is a deterrent and also punishment, so there aren't more. That's why it is a crime.

So if people made false reports of fires, should you care? After all you're not the going to the locations.

What's laughable is that you don't understand what people are saying. It's crazy how obtuse you're being.

I mean if a police isn't doing his or her job, he/she should be fired like everyone else who gets paid but doesn't do what they're paid to do. Police take advantage of their authority and have big egos (generally). That manifests as the type of behavior we've seen from them forever. That's a systematic issue. Seems like it's a little bigger than some mope like this dude crying wolf.

Why don't you become a policeman so you can find out repercussions for poor police officers. Be the worst policeman you can be champ.

So it’s systematic and we’ve seen them waste time since forever. And therefore, all that should happen to them is a slap on a wrist.

Whereas if a dummy like Smollett does it, send them to jail?

So he shouldn't go to a jail, because others don't?

Do you know this for a fact?

Do I know what for fact? That police waste plenty of their own time?

That’s my argument here, that you’re throwing the cape on for police and their time when they’ve wasted and will continue to waste countless manhours on their own will.

Yet, you tap dance.

I’m trying to make sense of it.

I don't think I can be any clearer. Read back. And please quote me where I said Smollett should be jailed.

If a police takes advantage of tax payer money by wasting time, he/she should face consequences like discipline or be fired. If said police officer does that in conjunction with another crime like misleading an investigation or negligently or intentionally hurting someone, then there should be harsher consequences. There's a large spectrum of "wasting time."

If someone selfishly files a false report and wastes the same tax funded resources, he/she should also be held accountable.

I tap dance

Admit it, you have no argument.

Well my words weren’t to you. My words are for the ones who think jail time should be the punishment for wasting polices time and resources.

I’ve stated my argument.

You want jail time for people who make false police reports and waste the polices time and resources. Cool.

Do you want same jail time for the police who waste their own time, willingly?

I don’t know how much more you want me to draw it out for you.

You’re smarter than that.

And yes, you’re an even better tap dancer.

It's a crime. What he did is a crime. It can be a felony depending on location or charges.

I don't care if he goes to jail or not. I didn't even know who dude was three weeks ago.

I am not going to cry or make excuses for him. He's a grown *** man making false accusations.

You keep talking about police resources. But people are arrested, interrogated and serve jail time for false police reports all the time. That's why it is a crime.

:eek

IF the possibility of jail time is looking Smollett right in the face, I do wonder if he'll start singing (no pun) about the actual reasons behind the motive and start naming names. I do wonder if there is something bigger about the idea behind this "assault" than what we're learning about on the surface....

Clearly the truth is way more sinister..

What he did is considered a crime, ok cool.

That’s not the point :{

The point is, if “wasting a polices time and resources”, like it has been stated just recently in this thread, warrants jail time, then why not the opposite?
