Im not sure if I'd call geteuropa delusional though that title in this thread definitely belongs to Man U fans still.
There's just an unwritten rule here since Man U's fallen off that if your club is big enough to be in the CL, and you're in Europa, you're gunna get burned
I mean get europa himself was going Tony Montana when Arsenal seemed to have their top 4 trophy secure and Men's Wearhouse was in full effect. It's just too funny now how the tables have turned.
Definitely; those fans aren't exempt either. This was the first year I saw Man United fans hyping up Community Shields, FA Cups, and Europa League when they've been trashing those competitions for YEARS. I mean when Man United got embarrassed by Bilbao in the Europa League a few years back, dudes were writing essays about how the competition was worthless, they lost because it wasn't worth the effort, etc., and now they've suddenly realized its value after dropping to 6th and crashing out of every major competition.
I only brought up the Arsenal example because those fans had no shame bringing up "Invincibles" and "We won the league at Old Trafford" in 2016 after getting humiliated by Man United on a yearly basis for the past decade
Everyone always brings up how United and every other big club didn't care about Europa back in the day. This is a fact. But the fact that people leave out is that back in the day, Europa wasn't a way into CL. Ever since then teams have taken Europa a lot more serious. Sure community shields and league cups etc are no where near as prestigious as CL trophy, but you'd be foolish to think even big clubs don't want to win the Europa League if they had an off season or two. A trophy is a trophy, even more so when it automatically opens your chances for the next season.
