Go early to avoid a lot of the rush. Take a look at Parking Panda too. They list spots you can rent for cheap. Those garages can get somewhat expensive.

Yeah, that's what I plan on doing next.
We're planning to into DC on Friday or one of the weekdays to try and avoid the 'big' crowds.
I was already outvoted in not going to the zoo. So, I suppose the monuments and the other Smithsonian museums.

Just left the African American Museum. Spent the day there. Definitely a dope place with some great exhibits. I highly recommend going.

I think tickets are still being given out for December. But I heard if you show up the morning of you might be able to get a ticket for that same day.

Just go to the actual entrance and ask if people have extra tickets. Don't wait in that long line for the ticket booth. Plenty of people, myself included, reserved 6 tickets for our time and only showed up with 2 people. We would just give them out to people who asked for them.
