Bean and Diesel won 4 chips in 5 years. How much more winning were they supposed to do? You could have a valid argument that bean and Shaq should of won at least one between 96 and 99 but still, there’s a reason why you see teams collapse after going to the finals that much.

Some of the guys on the team, Rick Fox most notably, have been very vocal about this. Said they were just barely hanging on by the time the ‘03 playoffs rolled around. Injuries started to happen, etc.

Going to the Finals three years in a row is like playing a full extra season; it takes its toll. No team in the modern NBA is going to that much better than everyone else that mileage isn’t going to eventually effect them.

Yes, but that doesn’t really undermine the point I was making, which was backing up what P C H was saying about claims a team could have won 8 straight or more titles.

Warriors didn’t win 5 straight titles and LeBron only won 3 out of 8. Plus, Warriors might not even have gone to 5 straight if they didn’t sign KD after the first two. And LeBron only went to 8 straight Finals because the East was weak basically the entire time he played there.

Point is, there’s no reason to think any modern era team would have/will win more than 3 straight titles because nobody has done and all the teams that have been to 3 straight Finals started showing major signs of wear after that.

Agreed. And it’s not like he’s known as a bad locker room guy. For teams like the Clippers and Sixers signing him would be a low risk, potentially decent reward proposition.
