Na Zidane had a better touch than fat Ronaldo.

Speaking of Ronaldo's, did anyone just see the bullet shot he just scored from 30 yards out. Oh God :x

Eiddy, gif that!

This what you're looking for?

"An Overrated Player"...

He only scores these kinds of goals against the crap defenses of La liga though. He's not skipping past 3/4 defenders against good CL teams or for country.

Your point is irrelevant considering he's the only one who regularly scores this quality of dribbling goals, period. And the implication that he's some kind of flat track bully is way off base. His most victimized opponents in La Liga in terms of goals and assists throughout his career are Real Madrid and A.Madrid. He led the CL in scoring four consecutive times. And I'm guessing you haven't watched Argentina in the past two years.

While Messi is amazing, I consider him to be better than Ronaldo, I have to agree with the first bit of Ibis* post. If you watch the whole clip the defending througout the whole buildup and goal is testimonial -esque at best.

Come on now :{ at 1-0 no less...:{

Again hes a a otherworldly player but that team's defensive "effort" was a ******g joke.

* note: I'm just talking about some of the crap defenses in La Liga, not Messi only doing that against crap teams as he did that to Arsenal (x4), buuuut we has Almunia and Silverstre in defense at Denilson at DM and they are all simply atrocious. :lol

Goals in which a player dribbles past multiple defenders are inherently 'bad defending.' Anytime a defender is beaten it can be considered poor defending - even if it is by a great player. Messi causes panic and mistakes when he runs at a defense. Defenders don't know when to make the challenge because his control is so close and his pace so rapid that the timing window to make the tackle is smaller than it is for any other player. Anyway, the tie was long dead (that was the second leg), so it wasn't exactly Getafe's best defensive spell.

I don't think they are any worse at defending than their Premier League equivalent - which is a side like Norwich. And while I'm not suggesting you hold this belief, it's a myth that it's easier to play in La Liga and that it's full of 'crap defense.'
Cazorla said it after joining Arsenal, and Cesc said it after returning to Barça - there's more space between the lines in the EPL. And that's exactly where Messi thrives. He'd run riot in England just as he does in Spain - anyone suggesting otherwise is talking nonsense. And while it need not be said, Leo > CR.

Messi is a stud, but he would not run wild in the EPL like he does in Spain. I'm not saying he wouldn't lead the league in scoring, but the numbers wouldn't be as stupid as they are now.

Perhaps true, given that the avg. goals per game is slightly lower in the EPL (iirc it's been ~0.2 less this season). So possibly his goal numbers would be slightly less stupid than they have been in La Liga. But seeing as how many have attested to the increased space in between the lines, Messi's influence would perhaps be even greater on average in England. More space between the lines = more time and opportunity to pick a pass or run at defenders. And the end to end nature of the league would suit him well, as opposed to the more deliberate, tactical style in Spain.

You seem like a smart dude but why do you let yourself get warped in the Messi vs. Ronaldo debate all the time? You're like one of those dudes on the totalbarca website, the hate is so strong lol

Messi nor Ronaldo would get the amount of goals in La Liga in the EPL, they'd lead the league in scoring but the ridiculousness of averaging 1 plus goals a game wouldn't happen. I'd love to see Messi go t the EPL and try tho, but it'll never happen.

0-2 -bit of breathing space in a tough game for Spurs

...need a 3rd to wrap it up now boys!

Mastamind coming thru :smokin, where did you find the gif's? i go to 101greatgoals (eiddy put me on to that) but sometimes they're off there game. That Ronaldo shot, damn. It looked like a basketball shot for some reason :{

Louislagerfelf, watch your mouth. I don't know any Platano's who like or watch soccer in the first place. I don't know about you :lol
>D >D >D you'll see papi

But eiddy is right, the gif sources are drying up. Feint zebra used to have them up ASAP but the feds have shut it down. 101 great goals is cool, but they don't always have all the gifs and they don't upload them as fast sometimes.

You guys give the Prem waaay too much credit. It's already football from the stone ages, if it weren't for the foreign players saving the league it would be so much worse. Messi would do fine in the Prem. There is not one defender or team that could handle his ability to change direction & his dribbling ability. A footballer of that class could play in any league.

Some good games today... AC Milan vs. Hellas Verona (beIN Sport 2:45PM). Looking forward to seeing the debut of new boss Clarence Seedorf. You also got Atletico Madrid vs. Sevilla (beIN Sport Espanyol 3PM).

For those of you that area lucky enough to still have golTV, Ajax vs. PSV is on at 10:30AM. Always a lively affair.

Lastly my Barca plays at Levante at 1PM. Interested to see what line-up Tata puts out in lieu of not having Neymar.

That is a weak lineup. I could be wrong Chelsea might score a couple today.

I don't think United score today, no way.

I hope Matic gets some time on the pitch today. I had high hopes that he would actually start but realistically it's probably too soon.

Chelsea Man U today right?

0-0 is my prediction lol

Maybe Chelsea puts one in.

Chelsea will win.

Welbeck will score.

Here we go...

De Gea; Rafael, Evans, Vidic, Evra; Valencia, Carrick, Jones, Young; Januzaj, Welbeck.
Lindegaard, Giggs, Smalling, Hernandez, Cleverley, Fletcher, 香川真司.

Kagawa on the bench, while Young gets game time.

And people REALLY think Moyes will come right at United. :rollin
