The titanic vol. lost

Just read duke bought the CF from Being at a discounted price cause it was passed its shelf life. Dude was wylin. :smh:

Yeah, I can’t confirm or deny any of that but at this point the entire thing (company, preparation, etc) was so cockamamie that it’s just another small rock in a sea of negligence (no pun intended).

Here is an article on the CFRP conversation for anyone interested: https://www.insider.com/oceangate-ceo-said-titan-made-old-material-bought-boeing-report-2023-6?amp

Geez.....if someone ever needs an example for why regulations and standards matter they have the perfect one here.

Kinda feel bad for the kid though.

You are correct, but it's actually even worse than that. If what I have read is true, the composite material that the hull was made of would have made testing entirely irrelevant. Meaning even testing it couldn't prevent anything. Scary ****. Nobody would have signed up for that if they explained it that way prior to.

The goal of testing isn't to prevent failures from happening; it's to validate that the product being tested can be operated within the design parameters.

Speaking of the hull material itself, additional testing would've been necessary because the design of the sub was unconventional (cylinder body for very deep dives instead of spherical shape), and the material was unconventional and dictated the shape of the sub body (can't turn carbon fiber into sphere without weakening it).

From all the information that is transpiring from this tragedy, it sounds like the CEO had an early prototype that he misrepresented as the final product, even though a number of critical issues were raised by his engineering team.

Good practice would have been to determine/verify all the ways in which his sub would fail and update the design. Why he didn't do that is anyone's guess: my hunch is that he couldn't afford to build a second prototype and just went YOLO.

Doesn’t take a genius to know that carbon fiber aint cutting it 12,000 feet down

I thought it was used for several exhibitions before.

And I read that it’s not uncommon that a Logitech controller is used to operate subs or aircraft’s. Never knew this.

They was using Jordan Retro "carbon fiber" :lol

He probably thought it was good enough for supercars with a carbon tub and retro Jordans it's good enough for the depths of the ocean

I think this mission was two fold.

I think this mission was about:

-reaching the corazon of the Earth
-reaching the "core ah zone" of the Earth

*corazon = emotional heart of GOD
**"core ah zone = physical Heaven on Earth

I believe that the passengers son that went to the Blink 182 concert... went because prior to his father going on this mission... he knew that his father would either:

-reach the corazon of the Earth... or the emotional heart of GOD... because whether his father completed his mission or not... even trying his mission itself took heart.... and he knew his father would be emotionally discussed as being brave and of heart... by the masses.
-reach the "core ah zone" of the Earth... physical Heaven on Earth... complete his mission... and return... with directions... for the masses.

There are lots of different stories about a "core ah zone"... heaven on earth... or cave paradise... inside of the heart... or corazon... of GOD. I believe that the crew believed the stories... and went for it.. knowing that they would either:

-reach the corazon of the Earth
-reach the "core ah zone" of the Earth

...

Or the kid was just on the spectrum and didnt have the ability to understand how it would look to other people…or he knew his step father was already gone. Or just didnt care
