So a 30 year old car that’s been sitting in a barn doesn’t need an oil change? Ok sure. I mean I guess if you never wear your watch you never need to service it. But regular maintenance is definitely recommended. You don’t want that lubrication just sitting there in your watch. And seals have been known to dry and fail. It’s a watch. Wear it. Put it on a wonder or not. It doesn’t really matter. But letting something just sit there is just as bad if not worse for longevity than using it for it’s intended purpose which is everyday wear.
