It's definitely about the lighting, no matter how good you are if lighting is crap it'll be grainy. Most of the time though, I don't have the best light, just decent enough. Try to take your pics outside in the sun if you can, that will produce the best pics.

I do my own focus tap,depending where you tap it, can lighten or darken your pic. If you tap on a dark area the pic brightens up and vice-versa, so I like that feature. Also don't forget the hold-tap so that the focus locks in to where you want the focus and then you can move the phone slightly.

I also use VSCO app to edit pics if it isn't of best quality, it's limited in what you can do but it's fun playing around with the contrast, sharpness, shadow, etc...

I did back to back testing, whenever I tapped to focus (without lock) and I zoomed in, was never crystal clear, AE Lock, same thing.. you'd think the pics would come out the best with the focus and focus lock but not from my experience. Its like the small dial makes it really hard to focus, and yea I use the screen tap for exposure lightness or darkness all the time but when not focusing on a small object. It works for a wide background well

Check these pics, all from my iPhone 5, auto focus, HDR....The photos have to really be saved full size and downloaded direct than this constant transferring, loses quality. But anyway I feel like my 6 isn't as detailed or crisp,

Oh I have done pics on just auto-focus and get good results but I feel I've gotten better results when I focus myself. I used to take pics with HDR all the time and it would save two pics on my phone, one regular quality and the other "upgraded".

I think that is pretty much how most take their pics, just let the iphone tech do it's thing. The thing with HDR though is I believe it takes 2-3 different shots and combines them to get the best quality however since it takes that many shots, your hand also has to be extra steady or else things just becomes more blurry.

TIL white gold is a gold alloy that's plated with rhodium. My question is, why pay the premium to use a precious metal like gold only to plate it with a different metal?

I believe it is to make it shine white. If they used a different material to make white gold with just others alloys, there is still that yellowish gold hue and rodhium plating removes that. At least that's how I remember it. A jeweler could probably explain it better.


I think I also read a few years back that rodhium could actually be more expensive than gold but it is more delicate or brittle so they just use it as plating and in time, it'll come off the white gold metal and have to replate the metal? Again this is my vague recollection so someone might be able to chime in with a better answer.

The Rhodium costs 10x plus the price of gold, its a highly precious metal. They coat white gold and platinum with Rhodium to give it a mirror like, very white/lustre.....

Just visual, and when in the background can make a diamond in a setting look larger and with more color

As for DDII I was just offered one from my buddy, yellow gold/white dial... but not my style at all

If anyone wants its a sick deal, he's getting divorced and was a present from his wife, he wants it gone for like 20k

Because it's a popular precious metal? People just like gold, plain and simple.

To most of the population, the general public won't be able to tell a stainless steel watch against a white gold watch but people buy it because it is a precious metal.

As for silver, I believe they do add rodhium plating to prevent it from tarnishing quicker but not many will pay a premium for a watch made out of silver. I think silver is also a softer metal so it'll be easier to ding and damage your watch if it is the main metal used? I also think there are plenty people out there whose skin doesn't react well to silver or vice versa.

Yes.. I know exactly how you feel and since getting my Sub, I NEVER want to wear any of my other watches, I am plotting hard on some other time pieces, just moved into a new house last weekend, if my wife saw a new watch on my wrist...

Not gon' touch that Tag either but I am somewhat interested in seeing what they are doing to their F1 line. For the longest time, the F1 quartz is the entry-level watch for most, it is robust and can take a beating and you don't have to worry about the time. It's just a solid watch that gets you into the world of watches. ~$500 got you into Tag and that was great.

Now I believe they go rid of any quartz F1 and made them bigger and more expensive and making other look elsewhere. I admit they look a bit better these days but I am not sure they are moving in the right direction.

I see. It just seems silly to me that one would pay the premium for gold only to have it covered up in a different metal.

But that is the way they accomplish white gold. If you don't like yellow or red/pink gold but still want gold, that is your only option.

I mean I'd understand if it didn't have a point, like if they just coat the gold just to coat it without any effect but it alters the look of the metal and technically you are coating a precious metal with a more precious metal that wears away so in a way that should be more special, no?




As for Tag, I wouldn't say they are more prestigious now but to the general public they have always been viewed (and still are) them on par with Omega, above Hamilton and below Rolex. Watch enthusiasts pretty much considers Tag trash for the most part, I personally like them a lot and I own a Carrera Chrono and Monaco and have had no problems with them at all.

I am confused with what they are doing though, they are supposedly going down market and plan to lower their prices but then they got rid of their most affordable watch and raised the F1s prices. I think they are a bit confused right now and have no solid footing in the market which sucks because I am a fan.
