The Timepiece Thread vol: READ THE 1st POST!!!

I think it's nice, I wouldn't buy it but it's alright.

It's one of those watches that has a "vintage" look but in contrast has polished center links and lugs, I don't know, it's kind of a weird combo? To me it doesn't work too well together.

If I were to pick a vintage style diver, my first choice might be the Tudor Heritage Black Bay in red. I don't know but this one just clicks to me.

I like the Black Bay with the blue bezel a lot.

As you can see, I'm eyeballing watches with blue accents.

I like the "Batman" GMT as well.

That Seamaster's $6,600 retail. I'd rather save up on the next paycheck and get a SS sub.

The blue Black Bay is also very nice but in my list of blue divers, #1 on the list is definitely going to be an SMP or a PO by only by a tiny edge just because they make it in smaller size. It's would be more of a toss up between the two though if my wrist were a bit bigger.

The titanium PO is real nice though, MSRP is $8500 though.

I like the Black Bay in Blue because the Blue looks darker/deeper than on the Omegas.

Could just be my imagination or my eyes playing tricks on me because of the Black face.

Can't forget the white gold Sub either, which is LOVELY.....but $28,000.

I think I would get the Tudor Pelagos over the PO or Seamaster.

Pelagos is like a completely different animal, once you see it in person there is just something about it. It's like the whole matte dial and matte ceramic bezel (which has a lume) and titanium case/bracelet with those big white indexes and AR coated sapphire and awesome bracelet adjustment on the fly, etc... all makes for such a good divers watch. It looks good in pics but seeing it in person and you kind of go "that is like the submariner born during the apocalypse" but in a good way. It's hard to explain but you really have to see it in person and I highly suggest you do.

My only gripe is that it is 42mm (personal problem because it's too big for my tiny wrists) and I wish the date color is inversed, make the date wheel black with white numerals and it'll be close to a perfect watch (though I guess it balances the index from the 9 o'clock side) . The ETA movement kind of bothers pplenty of people though but for about half the price of the Sub it really isn't bad at all.

(not my pics)

I think what you're liking in the blue Black Bay is the combination of satin finish on the case, matte dial and the bezel color being more flat (not exactly matte) because it is made of steel like the old Subs. It's a nice touch through the whole watch.

That blue wg is very nice, first time the ceramic bezel made an appearance, right?

i want a rolex and this might be a dumb question but can i find one for 5gs or less?

Pre-owned.

RFX, not sure about the 1st appearance of the ceramic dial.

I admire the white gold Sub from afar. I actually think retail is 40k and the grey market price is 28k.

Not happening any time soon :lol

I think you maybe right about the retail price. Last time I enquired about the w/g blue sub several years ago I was quoted $25k back then from an authorized dealer. I would assume it's around 30k by now if not more.

@RFX45 yes I have seen the Pelagos in person already. I'm just still on the fence on what watch I really want next. Since just getting married in April I will now have to talk to the Mrs to get the ok to purchase now. LOL! She approved the black dial Daytona purchase as a wedding present for myself. I have several on my want list: white dial SS Daytona, w/g blue dial sub, SS Gmt Coke dial, SDC4000, or maybe some other precious metal Rolex.

That Tudor is really nice. My thinking since it would be my first Major watch purchase....if imma spend a couple stacks on a watch I might as well spend a couple more and get a Rolex while I'm young :lol.

FTFY

I get what you're saying but to be fair a comparable Roles will cost twice as much. Also, Tudor is made by Rolex so there's that.

Not fake but the vintage Rolexes he bought didn't have 100% authentic Rolex parts.

The Daytona looks a lot better on a wrist than it does by itself.

I'm not fond of its aesthetic (my own taste) but looks a lot better worn.

Some really dope watches in here

This is what I've been wearing damn near every single day for 8 years. Not a nice watch by any stretch but I absolutely love it, and actually get a lot of compliments on it. This was my folks college graduation present to me.
