probably the same reason why people don't pay for NT
The ads on NT don't bother me enough to make me want to pay to remove them.
I was put on my man's YouTube PRemium Family account and I've had it for about 5 years, yea I don't know how I would be able to go back to normal YouTube.

It's a time/value consideration. How much could someone pay you to watch or listen to 1 hour of ads? The answer is certainly more than the cost of YT premium
Granted, it would take significant use to get to 60 mins of ads. Assuming 1% ads per video (probably low) that's 60 hours of video
