been posting like crazy today hyped for possibly starting something in IT but sadly disappointed. Im thinking about going to college but my fam is struggling for $. Im not worried about tuition costs since I know someone who can help me out with that, but Im more worried about spending 4 years at school without being able to help. Im in a position of reverse parenting - where I have to help my family but Im finding it difficult to find a good paying job without a degree. How do older people who have the same responsibilities of me (prob someone in their late 20s or 30s) get to go to college? Do they just have a ton of money saved up and dont have to work full time and can spend most of their time studying?

What were you doing prior? Most of the people I know who went to college later attended CC for 2-3 years until they had enough credits to transfer.

I actually went to college but fafsa wouldnt cover much tuition for my last year and it was too much for my fam. I already had loans out and couldnt get more. I went to a private college so what I owe them is ridiculuous. I cant even get my transcript without paying them what I owe now otherwise I could just transfer my credits. Im a little older now (still in 20s) and I just need to help my fam. Its discouraging as hell cause Ive always done well in school with a bright future but now im just lost...

I'm confused because you said earlier that you are not worried about tuition cost. Anyway, I would recommend finding a way to pay what you owe and finish school whether it is continuing at the same school or transferring the credits to another. Do Doordash or Uber if you have a car.

Gotcha. I meant if I started all over - probably going to CC to save $ and then transferring to an in state college, I have a family friend willing to front that bill and have me pay them back. Paying off my old school isnt an option lol. The problem with Uber and Doordash is that I wont make enough money to help out my family. I legit have to help them pay for bills. A $15 hr job isnt enough.

I don't know the specifics. But if you completed 3 years (give or take) of college why wouldn't you find a way to transfer the credits by any means rather than starting from scratch? What did you major in and what were your previous jobs?
