I'm in the Bay Area, you can bring your own bag. I think people who pay with food stamps still get their bags free at least a few years ago they did.

Yeah, you can. I bring my own bags. In the Bay & Sac they charge like 10 cents a bag (paper or plastic). Those sturdier fancy reusable tote bags sold in grocery stores can cost up to 10 bucks.
