Finally ditching my trusty iPhone 5. For the most part it still works great and the battery lasts surprisingly long but something is ****** up with the battery recharge. I have to try a whole bunch of times for the USB charger to register.
Those prices for the new ones though The X was well over €1000 and I don't like the lack of a home button so I went with the iPhone 8 plus. And they still start at a little over €900 (about $1080)

I remember when a friend of mine took a vacation to the US a few years ago he and his family bought a whole bunch of iPhones in America and resold them here for a pretty big profit.

Have you tried using a new usb charger? I’ve had the same problem before. I got a new usb charger and it started working again. Worth a shot if you want to keep your old phone.

Yeah I got a brand new charger but sadly it didn't make a difference. For whatever reason the older USB charger actually seems to be easier to get the charging to register.
To be fair I'm kinda surprised the phone still works this well given that it's a little over 5 years old. I hear a lot of complaints from other people I know whose batteries drain in no time on older phones with the latest updates installed.

I couldnt decide between the 8 and the X.
So i ended up fixing the screen on mine and just kept it lol

How about digging out the lint from the charger slot, a lot of people have had that issue, and they take a paperclip/toothpick to the charger port and pull out a lot of dirt/lint

I have an iphone 6 got my battery replaced for $30 when apple was offering that special got my screen fixed and figured it will just hold me over to the next run of phones
I want the X but like that price...so when the new phones come out i might settle for an 8 if they go on sale

I dont know if i can justify it.
I paid $1200 for my macbook years ago. Seems like a lot of money for a phone.

Surprised people know about this. I work weekends in a cell repair spot and they charge customers $50 when they go in for this same issue to “replace your charging port” lol smh

I had that a couple of months ago - had to fiddle around to get it to start charging. The amount of pocket fluff that came out was just ridiculous and it’s been perfect since.
