the thread about nothing...

I had these

These were super limited and rare. Had them shipped from a small skate shop in Cali when I was in NYC. Soilid shoe very comfortable. The guy who did the designed taka hyashi is amazing.

Vans material like the leather > any shoe company.

That is a hard fact too. Even Nike cant match their level of detail and quality of shoes.

the 1st pair is :emoji_fire:

and like you mention there material is top notch man, after taking an L on a vans x fog collab i went to the vans store and copped both these

I had these the quality was great and it surpassed certain Nike shoes at that time for me personally. I really loved those fixed gears (gray pair) cause it was super comfortable and the 3M stitched laces were clutch when I rode my bike at night to work. The black pair was sleek enough to wear into a club or party.

They weren't cheap too cause they were 120-130 range.

If your talking struggle kicks you might referring to Payless shoes. Cause vans sells their kicks in high-end clothing stores like Barneys and norsdtrom. They aren't that cheap.

I wear Roshe's to work, I do way too much traveling to be in dress shoes 8 hours a day. What kind of bars to people go to were your worried about people spilling liquor on them?

U have no idea what it was to wear vans in the late 70’s early 80’s.

I heard vans and cortez get no love out there

If Im not mistaken vans originated from California.

I'm from nyc, I buy what I like not what the next man is thinking of me. My money.

Nike cortez, never owned a pair but will keep my joints clean.

I believe someon here (NT) said it..it don't affect me at all was just wondering why

Struggle shoe, told my self when I was 10 years old that when I finally was old enough to make money I would never wear another pair. 34 years later and I haven’t .

I have 3 pairs of Forrest Gump cortez.

Those are necessary for me.

I actually find cortez to be comfy in a weird way.

So I played five minutes of COD, then my daughter woke up from her nap.

Tried to stay up last night to play, but fell asleep putting my daughter down for bed.

Dangit lol.

Haven't touched COD since I was on paternity leave with my 3 year old. Don't even try to hop on anymore

If your family had struggle problems at that age you were in I can understand. When I was 10 my parents couldn't buy me what I liked but I was greatful for every pair, peice of clothing that my mom and dad bought me 1st Gen African immigrants we struggled. I didn't grow up in the 70s and 80s. Grew up in the 90s. So our time frame is different. I still buy retro style shoes from late 80's and 90s. Cause im grown and make my money to do so. I would buy Payless kicks just cause I know what I need from them. Gonna humble myself. Their are people out there with not one pair of shoes. (I donate what I don't need) but to call them struggle kicks I have to disagree. Vans sells there shoes at hi-end clothing stores maybe not back in the 70s and 80s but that's the past. Were talking about now, and they were dropping gems in 2008-2012 with the vault collection, and they still do.

Just bought me these Reebok pump Dee browns. Wore them 3 times to play ball in and still cracking necks at the gym. Dudes saw me pumping them they were like yo "where u get those at?" And they had $180-$200 Nike Kobe's and LeBron's. I got mines for $44.
