The other day I was watching one of my favorite movies from recent years. Youth from Sorrentino. Absolutely spectacular as I remembered.
This time one of the dialogues in between the main characters struck me hard
While they were walking between an old road lost in the Swiss Alps in a much likely warm spring, talking about what happens to your memories once you start to loose yourself in age or dead, talking about the things he have done for her daughter he says :
"You know I've done them deliberately so she would remember when she grows up but in time she won't remember a single thing ...
tremendous effort made you know ... tremendous effort made with a modest result "
i loved it , because it relates very well with the senselessness of our lives, the efforts we do to exceed ourselves , to be better than yesterday, everyday, to be more meaningful for our loved ones , all that in an endless pursuit of a desire to have more , more of us more of them more of everything ... but in the end we'll be ashes if not broken memories of something that used to be. What kind of achievements will be a tremendous result for you fellas?
All that I have done so far can be synthesized in that phrase , not so ironically, they just moments , the day after them I woke up the same. Better, perhaps, but in the bottom the same
