Aunt just called that my dad has been sent back to the hospital and is currently in Intensive Care.
The retirement home was not able to find proof at this time but they suspect he got his hands on alcohol somehow, probably from a fellow inhabitant. Nothing was found in his room.
He fell, broke his hip or leg (not sure which), and was shaking all over, like you'd expect from alcohol withdrawal. Considering his medication fully prevented any alcohol withdrawal effects, the only explanation for such withdrawal-like symptoms would be that he got his hands on alcohol. The retirement home has already canceled his temporary stay so they're not expecting him to come back. Which isn't a good sign.
All this work the doctors and my aunt and I did and he seemed to be on the good path, becoming more open and admitting his liver problems etc, and then he does this.
ICU visiting hours are very limited so I'll be briefly seeing him in a few hours.
