Bruh I swear when I stopped reaching out and checking on peoples well being is the time I figured out I didn’t have any friends
Folks that would swear up and down we are cool isn’t even aware that I lost my mom and my aunt within a full calendar year

my last real friend from high school passed away from Sickle Cell way back 2018 and since then I haven’t heard from anyone that use the term friend when describing me

it’s been eye opening for years
Like damn we wouldn’t talk at all if I didn’t speak

it’s even worse because of the era we live in where it so many options to reach out with a touch screen

Likewise. No deaths in the family, but most of my friends kind of drifted apart about 6-7 years ago. Most were kind of just smoking buddies(or party friends when the occassion arises) back when I was selling weed it seems like.

I'll say we're still on good terms, but I don't care to reach out much. Feel like it would be awkward, so we just keep tabs on each other on social media.

We could definitely both make some new friends though. I haven't been to a party in years.

Some people do have real friends, some don't but use friends term when it's not, personally I don't have friends for at least 3 reasons : who I am, the fact I moved a lot, and the fact friendship is sacred for me, so I can't call anyone a friend...
I do think real friends are in most of cases the ones you met as a youngster and kept since then. Making friends as an adult is complicated because growing up we all protect ourselves from this world, so do we leave enough space for friends when a woman and children + own family exist ? And people you met as a kid had time to deceive you, so if you're still down with them as an adult it means you were cool with them as both a kid, a teen and an adult, they deserved to be called friends according to me.
Time is what permits to know who is a friend. Because it's easy to appear cool during one year and disappear...

EDIT : homies ain't friends, they're people who might struggled with you, but when the struggle is over, could you call them friends ?

It's not even something I'm doing intentionally or not, but when it's over you not always have something to say...

We are our own best friend, the one and only who would always be there for us, no matter when or where, how, and for what reasons.

What kind of achievement is it when you create some movie or video game and someone remakes it ?
It must means a lot, if it deserves to be remade it means it could not be bad at first.
Second compliment, at least for movies, is in general, people still prefer the OG so you're good anyway

The Suicide Squad this year, is an offshoot of what you’re saying, where they messed it up—one where the first one in 2016 was an interesting idea and moneymaker for 1-2 sequels if you nail the landing and they didn’t. They wish this one had been the original. So there are remakes now in comic book universes with billion-dollar potential nets, where the concept was so lucrative that the studio has to remake it. It’s not a shot for shot remake of the story obviously but you couldn’t really do that only two years later, and that storyline in the 2016 one was weak anyway.

For sure like Dune might be better than the original when it comes to what you’re saying in terms of telling the same story, and even that we’re just guessing. It never happens really, even if the remake is good.

There are untouchables that should never be remade like Forrest Gump, Animal House, Friday, Wizard of Oz, **** even The Goonies.
