Not sure but I felt that Naan bread is the same as the pita bread. The taste and smell is very much close with some very few distinct differences.

I remember ^THAT was a thing too. It took a while for my parents to get me one because they didn’t want anyone to steal mine. Finally got one in the 7th grade, only to move to San Diego where, at the time, clothes with professional sports teams were banned. 
I just stared wearing it anyway and the ban magically got lifted.

To me the smell is quite different. Naan is fluffy & thick compared to thinner pita & due to that it's aroma is way more floury-ish. Pita is great with chicken & rice platters. For curries & other foods, naan all day.
