If you don't focus on the people who are becoming infected, you just pile more people you need to focus on treatment.

More sick people=more dead people.

More dead people =no workforce=you can't revitalize the economy post shutdown.
Folks act like we haven't seen this before. In past pandemics, the earlier they were with measures like social distancing, the less of an impact it had on that regions economy vs the ones who clearly took a hit because people returned to their daily routine and died en masse.

Only let's not have millions die this time before we learn the lesson.


The takeaway is clear: These policies not only led to better health outcomes, they in turn led to better economic outcomes. Pandemics are very bad for the economy, and stopping them is good for the economy.
