The RETRO Gaming Thread!

My first 32-bit system was the PlayStation.

The first I played was the Saturn. There was a kid in my hood who was getting SSI. And copped the Japanese one with Virtua Fighter and Daytona. Those initial 3D titles did not look as good as the PS1.

I ended up getting one after Nights came out. And that became my favorite console of that generation (though honestly PS1 was better), mainly due to the 2D fighters which I still played in the arcade like the versus, SNK, etc.

But sadly in the 3D category, they suffered. PS1 had FF Tactics (which comes out next week remastered), FF7, MGS, Crash, Tekken, Ridge Racer, etc.

And sadly Dreamcast died the minute they showcased the PS2.

Had this one slip through my hands way too many times or been way overpriced. Finally found one for about half of what they go for. SNES is the goat for me next to PS2 had to have this edition 3DS

(Not super old but kinda lol)

I didn’t know the first Montana was a rebranded Madden. I liked that game. Wasn’t a fan of the second title and was a step back especially with Madden 92 which was great.

As a Bronx native, playing arcade games was it.

On one hand, this was the peak of arcade based competitive gaming with NBA Jam, MK, SF2 and random SNK titles.

It also destroyed the “variety” we had in arcade experiences since everyone was trying to make a bag off fighting games. Ya still had light gun shooters, racers…occasional Metal Slug like game.
