It'll be a completely new character and story, but the beasts will be familiar to the FF universe for the most part definitely. I don't know if they changed this in the switch from FF Versus XIII to FFXV, but it might be part of the overarching FFXIII story as well.
Which reminds me that to add FFXIII and XIII-2 to the backlog of PS3 games to beat before picking up a PS4 as well. These next few months of playing catch-up should be fun.

No need for any backstory. Although originally this one was suppose to be set in the same world as XIII, but even back then years ago, they said that the story wouldn't overlap at all. As general rule any new number FF is going to be independent of any other. The only ones that are sequels will just have older numbers in it like FFX-2, FFXIII-2, or Lighting Returns:FFXIII.
Anyways, like a lot of people I've been waiting on this game for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNG time.

Some of these game companies want take their franchises in new directions.
If you've already given the futurisitic FFs a chance, then don't purchase the next futuristic FF.
If enough ppl do so, SE will have to reconsider how they go about making their next FF.

i plan on opening kz this weekend to try and beat the campaign, but i'm not too good at these games, so i think i'm gonna try it on the easiest level.. is the easy level still hard ? i don't want it to be to easy, and i beat it right away
