The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Yeah, I like competition between 1st parties, not Microsoft paying EA to not release a game on PS4 though.

Sony can't match Microsoft's wallet, but Microsoft can't match Sony's world wide studios. With the exception of KI and Forza, their biggest launch window exclusives are developed by third parties.

I wouldn't be surprised if an Xbox guy made those. Seeing a petition for Ryse was the first red flag. Plus no one is signing those. :lol :rollin

Knack > all xbone exclusives

NOT SURE IF SERIOUS.

yup. I would take a good platformer over Titanfall

B blakep267 nah, i dont got the patience for that kind of stuff :lol I remember trying to get into RPG maker

I dont either, but since its free, Ill probably just download whatever is on the top user/seller list etc

You act as if MS doesnt have worldwide studios also. They opened up 3 more in the past year or so

Do I really? Obviously Microsoft has some internal development studios. I didn't say they don't.

Also, you can't just start up a studio and expect it to have the same pedigree of a studio like Naughty Dog or Bungie who have been making games for a long time honing their craft.

But you'd be a fool to think M$ was ever going to even get close to making it multi-platform. We all saw that coming.

If they snapped it up like they did Gears then they would own the Franchise, not just have one game exclusive.

ehh, 1 game will get the job done. Between sales on the 360, pc, and xb1, itll be pushing at least 10 mill( the majority being on the 360). Add in the added revenue from the live subs itll require, and possibly bundle it with the xbox one and it served its purpose

people sure do like giving Ready at Dawn the benefit of the doubt when theyve never made a console game( the big times. not the psp) from scratch

^i agree
Why would m$ put $$$ on the line for first party studios if said ppl working in said studios haven't accomplished something or honed their craft?

This. Don't know why people act like these brand new MS studios are going to just churn out AAA games. Only MS studios that's impressed me and I'd say most of the gaming public is Turn 10 and maybe 343. Black Tusk is the one new studio I will say has impressed me, at least with the roster they're building.

Not saying any of these studios won't be great and make good games. But let's not act like they're going to compete with Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica, Polyphony, Team Ico, Media Molecule, Sucker Punch and Guerrilla, or even Nintendos first party studios. Took 15+ years for those guys to make games at the level they are now, progressively developing the portfolios of Sony and Nintendo. These are brand new studios from Microsoft. Again, took time for those Sony, Nintendo guys to learn too work together as as a team and make great games. Microsoft isn't going to get the same production immediately out of thin air.

Nah I think the XBone will get most of the sales. That's what it's been advertised on the most and it'll run better than the 360 version.

I dunno about 10 million though for a new IP.

Also Ready at Dawn is made up ofex Naughty Dog staff and Blizzard devs. I think we can give them the benefit of the doubt.

have these guys even released native footage yet?

we know the resolution, theyve confirmed it, and yet nothing released represents it

Who honestly cares about how good a game looks over how fun said game is?

Sony 1st party studios > MS 1st party studios

And it's not even close. Why is this being discussed?

Never said that. All I said was that Microsoft is paying for these third party exclusives because they can't match the depth of Sony's studios. The past year Sony's studios have been churning out triple A games in all genres. They released a new God of War, Sly Cooper, The Puppeteer, MLB: The Show, a new IP from Naughty Dog that's a legitimate GOTY contender, with a new Ratchet & Clank and Gran Turismo still coming. Plus their close relationship with developers like Level-5 who've made some of the best JRPG's for PlayStation's like Dark Cloud, Dragon Quest 8, and White Knight Chronicles, released Ni No Kuni earlier this year.

My friends with Xbox's were desperately waiting for GTA to come out telling me about how tired they are of their current games. I still have a backlog from just this year's releases.

Those were some really good games. The PSP was a capable device. It was almost like having a portable PS2. They also did the God of War Origins collection for the PS3. It's not like they were making 16 bit Game Boy Color games then moving to the PS4.
