The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Yea paying twice the amount just for a different color is overkill.
As well as waiting years for new colors.
Using Colorware as an example, they dont even have the PS3 as an option. So you could be waiting forever.
Lots of people offer different console colors. IDK which ones since I haven't investigated that.

Some people will even aztecically mod your ps3 for a price.

Here are some cool custom ps3s from a while back.

I would pay $200 to have my soon-to-be-purchased ps3 to look like that ones in that link.

BUT I barely look at my console, so I'd just spray paint it grey and call it a day.

Battlefield 4 on PS4 could use touchpad to throw grenades
DICE multiplayer producer says developer has tested "a bunch of things" for DualShock 4's new feature, but has not finalized plans just yet.

"We’ve experimented, but haven’t exactly nailed how we want it to behave just yet. Obviously flicking to throw a grenade is an option," he said. "There’s a bunch of things we’re testing out--we just haven’t settled on anything."

The PS4 version of Battlefield 4 arrives for the next-generation console as a launch title, meaning its release is just one month away.

Meanwhile, the Xbox One version of Battlefield 4 will support Kinect and may even feature head-tracking, DICE said last month.

Battlefield 4 arrives first for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on October 29. The game's open beta launched on October 1 and ends tomorrow, October 15.

At E3 2013, Quantic Dream showcased stunning and gorgeous looking demo of "The Dark Sorcerer" on Playstation 4.

The demo was pretty impressive and gave Playstation fans a glimpse of Quantic Dream tech demo can achieve on PS4 early in its life-cycle.

According to David Cage, Head of Quantic Dream, "The Dark Sorcerer is the minimum quality you can get on Playstation 4".

In a recent interview to TechRadar, Cage stated: "This is basically Beyond's engine, and we were so excited with what we could achieve"

He further added, "Some people were really impressed with the Dark Sorcerer but this is just the beginning, it's the minimum quality you can get on the console."

If The Dark Sorcerer demo was the minimum quality on PS4, just imagine what the maximum quality will look like, "Photo-Realistic Graphics"?.

PS4 Overheating & The Red Line Of Death

A photo has surfaced showing a demo PS4 console overheating and displaying what has been dubbed “the red line of death.” The picture was taken at a PS4 event in Spain and posted by Elotrolado member Homer J. Simpson in his report of the event. He says (translated from Spanish) “it had a red light (where the typical blue LED light) and had a message on the screen saying that the console had a very high temperature. The security case was opened and in two seconds the error message was removed and the light had returned to its normal color. “

There have been various reports of PS4 consoles crashing during recent demonstrations but hopefully these issues will be sorted out by the time the console reaches retail.

Yea.

You keep something like that inside a plastic casing, it's bound to overheat.

Yea it shuts itself off if it overheats so not exactly death.
360 RRoD was just poor materials used and it being rushed

United Kingdom retailer John Lewis is expecting greater interest in the Xbox One than the PlayStation 4 this holiday season. Head technology buyer for the department store chain Jonathan Marsh told TrustedReviews (via GamesIndustry International) that Microsoft has the advantage and its console will outsell the PS4.

"We are expecting more interest in the Xbox One," Marsh said. "We are stocking both the PS4 and the Xbox One, but if we were to back one, we are thinking that Xbox One will appeal a bit more to our customers in terms of the experience it creates."

"If we had to edge one I would favor the Xbox One," he added.

The Xbox One may have a higher price tag than the PS4 ($500 vs. $400), but Marsh said the Xbox One's launch lineup and online platform will set it apart from the PS4.

Marsh is not alone in his prediction that the Xbox One outperforming the PS4 this year. Robert W. Baird analyst Colin Sebastian said in July that Microsoft's console could outship the PS4 by a 3:1 ratio at launch.

On the other side, a report from the International Data Corporation this month concluded that the PS4 would outsell the Xbox One due to a "variety of factors" but most directly its lower price point relative to the Xbox One.

The PS4 launches on November 15 in North America, with the Xbox One following on November 22.
