The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Allow me to pick my Jaw up from the floor.

Didn't see that coming at all and I missed it.

This is huge for me. I love my Vita, but only really enjoy it when on trips or not able to relax at home. I can also have my PS4 in one room and be able to play games in my bedroom.

Sony Reveals New Hardware: PS Vita TV
Play your Vita games on the big screen.
by Colin Moriarty SEPTEMBER 9, 2013

Sony revealed a ton of stuff tonight at its pre-TGS press conference, but perhaps the biggest surprise (well, other than a PS Vita redesign) was the unveiling of an all-new piece of Vita-related hardware. It’s called PS Vita TV, and it lets you play Vita games on your television... and do a bunch of other stuff, too.

PS Vita TV is a tiny piece of hardware. It’s about as big as a deck of cards, measuring 6cm by 10cm. It’s the smallest PlayStation hardware ever.

The idea of PS Vita TV is to let you play Vita games on the big screen using a DualShock 3 controller, but there’s actually more to it than that. While PS Vita TV has a card slot for Vita games, and accepts Vita memory cards, it will also let you use video streaming services (such as Hulu) and more. It even lets you play your PlayStation 4 via Remote Play.

It will also let you play PSone Classics and PSP games through it, again using the DualShock 3. And it will connect to PlayStation 4 so that you can play Vita games through PS4, as well.

PS Vita TV launches in Japan on November 14th, and will cost 9,480 Yen ($95). A special verison of it, packing an 8 gig Vita memory card and a DualShock 3 controller, will cost 14,980 ($150). It sounds like it will eventually be released in the west, though a specific release date (as well as pricing information) is still unknown.
So basically, this is sony's gameboy player?

hole up, I'd be able to play my ps4 games at my friends house without actually bringing my ps4?

I wonder how the Vita's touch screen controls are going to translate into that.

Yes, and it has an ethernet port so remote play will be reliable.

 • For $100 or $150 for the console + 8GB memory card and a white DS3, you can play PS1, PSP and PSVita games.
 • You can play the PS4 via remote play on anyother TV in the house or another house
 • It supports DS3 and DS4
 • Best of all, with Gaikai's also coming for Vita, this would most likely be able to stream PS3 games as well.

It obviously won't replace a PS3 or Vita but for the price and library and if they get enough apps on this then it may hit the likes of Ouya and Roku hard.
It's geenius.

That video above is getting good responses. I need to see it.

vita tv = bought
second that.

If it works as advertised, it would essentially be like having your one playstation in multiple different rooms in the house.  There are times when I get home and my girl is hogging the living room tv (where the ps3 resides) for some rubbish, but I don't wanna boot her off...so I just slog off to the office where there is a tv but no ps3.

Problem solved.

This vita tv is very very cool, sony definitely has my attention.

Im not trying to sound ignorant with this next question just purely curious, but do big game tournaments like shown in the commercial actually happen over in Japan.  I realize its advertisement and sony trying to sell units but I've heard stuff like that happens for starcraft etc.

I don't think that they'll translate at all.
unless we can use our DS4s...

Also TGS showed a survival horror game, that was the last thing I watched of the conference before I went to bed.  Game looks scary

Dont remember the last great horror game

Really excited for the vita tv. I just hope it actually works with the DS4 since I don't have a PS3 and I hate the DS3

Last great horror game was RE4.

A very good, not great horror game is Siren: Blood Curse.

I will always love platformers. Crash, Spyro, Sly, Ratchet, Jak, Ape Escape, Mario, etc. Knack looks cool to me. It reminds me of the original Crash games with more emphasis on combat.
same here, grew up on those kinda of games...I'll always like em..

and yea I would wait 3 months for knack why, you think it'll be on ps+ within that time?

Siren: Blood Curse is way more of a survival horror game than RE4. RE4 plays like an action game. RE4 is still a classic though.

Final Fantasy XIV PS3 Can be Upgraded to PS4 For Free
All character data will be saved and carried over.
by Luke Karmali SEPTEMBER 9, 2013

Square Enix has announced anyone who purchases Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on PlayStation 3 won't have to repurchase the game for use on PlayStation 4.

All character data will be carried over via a "free service", meaning you'll be able to continue with all the progress you've made so far on the new platform when the game officially launches for PlayStation 4 next year.

Additionally, the company has announced beta testing for the PS4 version of the game will commence on February 22, 2014.
