The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Kill zone looks really solid. I can't get jiggy w/ need for speed any more even though I played the hell out of those games as a kid

Ill be pre-ordering soon. Just trying to figure out how to get the RUF pre-order bonus. I know McLaren is through Gamestop and Mercedes SLS AMG is through Amazon... but cant find out who RUF is through... Best Buy maybe?

From Amazon's website:

Amazon Exclusive Mercedes SLS AMG Coupe and additional Pre-order Bonus
Pre-order Drive Club for PlayStation 4 and get the pre-order bonus "Mercedes SLS AMG Coupe Black Series Pack and RUF RT12 R Pack". The packs include: Amazon exclusive instant access to the high-powered Mercedes supercar, access to the RUF RT12 R super car

Is that it there?

Oh nice. There was no retailer logo on the RUF trailer. Maybe that might also mean it'll hit Gamestop. I'd prefer to order it from there if I could.

Excited for Killzone. This alone solidifies my excitement.

I dont have to pay $15 for 3 maps? Ah darn.

Killzone: Shadow Fall multiplayer DLC maps coming free of charge
By Michael McWhertor on Aug 20, 2013 at 10:22p @MikeMcWhertor

Guerrilla Games' Killzone: Shadow Fall kicked off Sony's Gamescom press conference today, offering a look at the PlayStation 4 first-person shooter's multiplayer mode. In a post on the official Killzone website today, Guerrilla offers additional detail about Shadow Fall's multiplayer component, and explains that maps for those modes will be released free of charge.

Killzone's next-gen sequel will allow players to customize multiplayer in various ways, including the number of players (up to 24), game rules, mission modes, classes, abilities and weapons. Those custom game presets can then be shared with the rest of the Shadow Fall community, Guerrilla says, and the developer will continue to add new customization options through the release of expansion packs.

Killzone: Shadow Fall's progression system is also getting a revamp, Guerrila says, focusing on completing challenges — the game has more than 1500 "increasingly difficult challenges" — instead of racking up XP.

Post-launch, Guerrilla promises to support the game with free downloadable multiplayer maps.

For a look at Killzone: Shadow Fall's multiplayer battles, its maps and its characters, check out the gallery below.

I'm not buying another Need For Speed until they drop a new Underground. F all that other nonsense.

Excited about killzone tbh I loved both games but the multiplayer could've been stepped up in both.

Dope new video for Infamous and the DualShock 4. Some new bits of gameplay footage in there.

it says 1080p on the box but my ps3 changes to 720p when the game starts up. i think they run 1080p but it isnt as smooth as 720p. but im not sure. Im sure hybrid knows this answer

Might be a little late since everyone's already drooling over the PS4 but...

To get games that say 1080p on the box to play in 1080p on the PS3, you gotta goto Display > deselect everything except 1080p and 480i (i think its greyed out anyway)

This basically forces the PS3 to play it in 1080p. And there is no slowdown at all compared to 720p...

And to the ppl saying the 4K on PS4, only movies can currently be played in 4K, not games. Hopefully maybe Sony can release a patch in the future to allow 4K games (like they did for 3D games for the PS3) because I read that the PS4 is capable of outputting at that res.

As far as i know it can play games fine at 4K. The only problem being that if the GPU is pushing that much pixels, don't expect it to do much else.
So I'm guessing Tetris, Pong and maybe chess will be the only 4K games you'll see :lol

Need For Speed Rivals may look ‘a little’ better on one next-gen console than the other

Need For Speed Rivals will feature better graphics on one next-gen console than the other,
Ghost Games’ executive producer Marcus Nilsson has suggested – but refused to clarify which.

“What we’re seeing with the consoles are actually that they are a little bit more powerful than we thought for a really long time – especially one of them, but I’m not going to tell you which one," Nilsson told VideoGamer.com at Gamescom earlier today.

“And that makes me really happy. But in reality, I think we’re going to have both those consoles pretty much on parity – maybe one sticking up a little bit. And I think that one will look as good as the PC.”

Nilsson chose not to answer when asked whether he was referring to the PS4 version.

Pushing him on the subject further, I asked: “Does that mean that the PS4 version of Rivals will look better than the Xbox One version?”

“I think that both consoles will look pretty much on parity,” he replied, “but one of them might stick up a little bit.”

Though the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One share similar specifications, PS4 features faster GDDR5 memory over Xbox One’s DDR3.

Nilsson’s comments suggest that third-party developers may be looking to take advantage of the additional power of PS4, rather than deliver identical versions across both platforms.

Need For Speed Rivals will be available at the launch of both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this November.

I hope all the multiplatform devs go this route. Happy to hear they're taking advantage right from the start.

Obviously talking about the Xbox One, the power of the cloud :smokin

PS4 will look better. Glad I made the right purchase.

I hope NBA 2K14 gets the same treatment.

Technology advances so quick in the next 2-4 years most ppl will have 4k tvs im sure there will be some games that will take advantage. I cant see this next gen pass 10 years without any 4k games. By then we will be at 8k.

Maybe with the clouds help they can achieve it?

...lol at dudes in the Ps4 thread talking bout they not getting it till a year from now. So come back to this thread in a year.

Its a discussion thread. You saying you're picking it up on release day in no more irrelevant then someone saying they are holding off for a while.

I am able to pick mine up release date, but I absolutely understand someone who is not. I am saving up for a down payment on a home by next June and disposable income is not exactly as easy to come by.

Me not picking it up on launch isn't even finance related. I just don't feel any need to get it at launch. The launch titles don't do it for me and I still have a huge backlog on PS3. No reason for me to go out of my way on November 15th to be an early adapter if it will just gather dust initially.

I'm in this thread for the same reason as anyone else: to discuss the PS4 as someone looking forward to owning one. I just want to a bigger assortment of games to choose from on the day I pick mine up.
