The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Battlefield 4 has an 85 and was basically broken on release.

To me, THAT is an over-rated game.

Explain to me how Battlefield 4 has more content in it's 6 hour campaign than Destiny does.

PS4 System Software Preview – USB Music Player, New Home Screen Colors, More

USB Music Player: PS4 owners can play their own music in the background while playing a game using USB Music Player*. After inserting a USB stick loaded with music into the PS4, a new option for USB Music Player will appear. Supported filename extensions include MP3, MP4, M4A, and 3GP.

Change colors: In addition to the ability to add a theme, PS4 owners can also change the background of the home screen from light blue to one of seven new colors: gold, blue, red, green, purple, pink, and gray.
Players You May Know: PS4 will now suggest players you may know in the ‘What’s New’ section, recommending gamers your friends frequently play with.

Enhancements to Live Broadcasting: Masamune brings a variety of improvements to live broadcasting on PS4. In the Live From PlayStation app, PS4 owners can now select a Featured channel, which includes official broadcasts from PlayStation, broadcasts from people on a players friend list, and any game channel that the player has followed. Additionally, Live From PlayStation now has filters for searching broadcasts on a specific game, as well as support for archived broadcasts.

Content Area and Library: PS4’s Content Area, which shows the latest games and apps a PS4 owner has used, has been redesigned to help make it easier to quickly find and access content. It now shows 15 of a player’s most used apps or games, and additional items will be added to a player’s Library. The Library on PS4 has improved filter and sort functions to help organize contented by type (game / app / TV & video), name (a – z or z – a), recently used, or install date.

Enhanced Voice Commands: The ability to control PS4 using voice has been improved. Players can now say ‘PlayStation’ to begin commands, and ‘All Commands,’ to see a list of all voice command options available. New voice commands were added for live broadcasting, including “Start broadcast,” “End broadcast,” and “Find face.”

Add To Library: The monthly free PlayStation Plus games will have an ‘Add to Library’ button in the PlayStation Store. This button will add a game to a PS4 owner’s library without downloading it – saving space on their hard drive.

Back Up Data: Data on PS4 can be backed up and resorted using USB storage. This will back up all data for the console, including settings, save data, screenshots, video clips, download data, and more.

is it even fair to compare battlefield to destiny? those 2 games can't even be compared to. in battlefields defense there is a campaign. a story clearly presented although it wasn't good either imo. destiny's story is hardly there if anything. you don't feel like part of anything as the characters are boring and there simply isn't a reason to care much for what happens in the game at all. and the way the game ends basically ends just to introduce the DLC. the grimoire cards offer insight into the lore of the game but geez would it be hard for them to add some of what the grimoire cards talk about into the story? and if we are talking about content BF is mainly an online military shooter while destiny has PvE and PvP the missions in destiny are boring imo its the exact same missions for the entire game until raids which i feel could be implemented more in the start of the game to give some sort of variety. like the shard of glass where it requires more teamwork and cooperation while not necessarily being the same difficulty. another thing is how the missions don't really any the challenges to be picked up at the tower make you go back and play the same missions over and over again which just makes the game much more boring. the game loses appeal quickly in that regard as there simply isn't much making you want to come back since the lot system and reward system in the game was crap when the game released. i mean the game is stingy when it comes to rewarding its players and the weapon designs don't really start looking cool till you see exotic weapons till then a majority of the guns look the exact same (character design such as armor and the setting in game is done nicely tho as well as the OST word to @iYen) also the leveling up system past 20 is garbage. the light rating is the worst thing in the game because for people who want to reach the highest level they need to search for armor with the highest light rating to level up. in a way it cripples the character customization since the game forces you to pickup armor pieces with a dumb rating to progress in leveling up. i personally feel that we should all get the first expansion DLC for free because of how bland the game begins to feel. i find the crucible to be enjoyable at times but matchmaking needs some more balancing as well as supers. i understand how you would feel that BF4 is overrated because i feel it is too. but i will say that BF does what it sets out to do well. an opine military shooter with destruction and an array of vehicles and some nice weapon customization. destiny on the other hand suffers from just feeling to bare imo which shortens the longevity of the game and makes the game lose its appeal quickly

Hopefully that Ps4 update comes out soon, a lot of good things on there.

Could happen this week PSN is currently down and the web store changed it load page and logo from PSN to Play Station Store.

The Play station blog says this isnt the complete update list. Hopefully DLNA is there for people who use it and more stability.

I'll just say I completely disagree with you on Destiny being good or not, but that isn't what the issue we were discussing.

Battlefield was rated 85. It was not an 85. It barely worked.

Destiny was rated 76. You, yourself, said it was a "6 or a 7".

All I am saying is Destiny is RATED very well; not over-rated at all.

I think what you are saying is that Destiny has undeserved popularity or "hype", which I wouldn't disagree with. But to say a game, that has an average rating and is an average game, is over-rated feels like directionless internet hate to me.

Those updates are appreciated but you can't copy music files from the USB to PS4 HDD like you could with the PS3.

You may already know that PS4’s upcoming system software 2.00, codenamed Masamune, adds some big features including Share Play, YouTube support, and Themes – but the updates don’t end there. I have personally stated in past blog posts that we listen to our fans. PlayStation has heard gamers when they say they want more ways to find friends to play with, and more ways to personalize their PS4. With this update, we’ve added a Players You May Know tile, the ability to listen to your music while gaming, the option to change the look of your PS4 experience, and easier ways to sort and filter your library of content on PS4.

PS4 has been on sale for almost a year and we’re committed to improving the player experience in entirely new ways. As always, we welcome feedback as part of our ongoing effort to make PS4 the best place to play.

  • USB Music Player: PS4 owners can play their own music in the background while playing a game using USB Music Player*. After inserting a USB stick loaded with music into the PS4, a new option for USB Music Player will appear. Supported filename extensions include MP3, MP4, M4A, and 3GP.

[h5]  [/h5][h5]PS Vita and PS TV – 3.35 update, Live From PlayStation[/h5]
The PS Vita and PS TV systems will also receive a system software update to version 3.35 with the same timing as Masamune, adding four-player Remote Play support to PS TV. In addition, the Live from PlayStation app, which allows users to watch live gameplay streams from PS4 systems, will be available on both PS Vita and PS TV alongside this update.
[h5]PlayStation App 2.0 update[/h5]
The PlayStation App for smartphones and tablets, available free on the App Store and Google Play, is also set to receive an update to version 2.0 within the same launch window as both the PS4 and PS Vita system software updates. This update provides a new layout for tablets, and the app’s home screen has been redesigned.

Stay tuned for more information on Masamune. We can’t wait for everyone to try it!

* User can play music files stored inside USB storage but cannot copy music files to PS4 HDD. This application cannot be used at the same time with Music Unlimited. USB Music Player will appear once USB storage is inserted, and will disappear once USB storage is removed.

$ony vs m$

You would make the same statement about X1 not having any games out too then, right?
Yes, I would. xb1 has way less to offer than the ps4 at this point and seemingly in the future.
$399 is the #1 system seller.

iyen are you getting either of the systems?
Here's a post from 4 days ago.
I almost impulse bought a ps4 from Walmart.
Then I realized that I'd barely play since the launch games list is very lackluster.
Cod ghosts is the only game I think that I'm interested in.

This next gen hype is sort of getting to me.
Can't help but notice a lot of xbone praising/sony bashing from you in multiple threads.

Enjoy your mp3 playback and "4k gaming upscaling" my dude...you got it.
How am I $ony bashing or xb1 praising? People claimed the reverse about me when I posted in the xb1 thread. They claimed that I was a $ony fanboy.

You're making a lot of assumpitions that aren't true.
If you would like an inferior gaming experience get the xb1.

You get achievements for watching ads.

ah okay well now you see what i feel about destiny

edit: all though i will say that comparing a score of one game of a different genre still isn't fair to another side battlefield and destiny shouldn't be compared to even their own review scores. and destiny was gaining some big hype before release as well which is why i would consider it overrated since many people saw that as GOTY status

Probably has to do with how the PS3 was hacked. Even Sony is asking Logitech and Madcats for advance security for USB devices new and old.

I thought I was tripping for a minute regarding Destiny. I can't really get into it at all.

I'm really liking Destiny. I feel like reviewers were kind of harsh. I enjoy playing in the Crucible. 5 of my friends have the game too and it's definitely more fun as an online multiplayer/co-op experience.

If all you do is play the story missions, they're just AI shooting galleries. The loot system is BROKEN. I feel like I never get rewarded most of the time. But the mechanics of the game are really good. I like the gunplay. I like doing the weeklies and seeing what new gear my friends got. Or just stacking bounties and BSing around the patrol missions to change it up after some Crucible. I actually stopped playing Shadow of Mordor because the itch for Destiny was real. But that's just me though.

I also hope that clown Xur has an exotic auto rifle this week. :{

Also interesting, PlayStation says PS Plus members more than doubled since Destiny launch (Crucible a possible reason?) #NPD

:x :x
No wonder the servers are getting wrecked.

Edit:
New PlayStation Plus memberships increased 115 percent from the week prior to Destiny’s launch
It's from the previous week not overall.

I wonder how sales will look in November when the MCC collection comes out since that seems to be the big reason to get the X1

DriveClub Sold 1 Million Units In First Week, Outsold Forza Horizon 2 By 2:1 Margin, PS4 Beats Xbox One 5:1

According to reports coming out from Insiderp, DriveClub on PlayStation 4 sold over ONE Million units within a week of its launch. The site reports that the most surprising part of DriveClub was digital sales figure, over 70% of game's sales came via digital transactions and over 70% of game's sale came from Europe.

In addition to this, during DriveClub's launch week (as of October 12), PlayStation 4 outsold Xbox One by a massive margin of 5:1 in Europe. PlayStation 4 managed to sold 96,000 units (around 16% sales came from DriveClub Bundle), whereas Xbox One only sold 19,700 units.

In comparison to Forza Horizon 2 Xbox One launch week sales, DriveClub beats it by a margin of 3:1 worldwide. The full breakdown Forza Horizon 2 and DriveClub Worldwide sales as of October 12 are listed below.
  • Forza Horizon 2: 489,000 Units
  • DriveClub: 1 Million Units.
These are not the official figures so we advice readers to take it with massive grain of salt and consider it as rumor, but insiderp has been pretty accurate with their previous sales figure report of PlayStation 4.
