Vazquez is guaranteed for 200 inning pitches which alleviates the top 3 of the rotation from having to put up huge innings. We now have 4 potential 200 inning pitchers. Vazquez is in his contract year, so he's fighting for another contract. He'll be a Type A free agent. Also this time around he's a back end of the rotation pitcher and not the #2 he was expected to be in 03-04. This is a steal and bargain and only for Melky Cabrera. And if Javy walks we have money free for the pitchers available next offseason.
I'm still upset about no more Matsui. I will be probably all season.Originally Posted by Big J 33

If I remember correctly, Javier Vazquez last stint with the Yankees was a lot less than stellar.

That bum %#$ %*@%+ was the one who gave up the grand slam to Damon of that '04 series.
I don't care what he did for the Braves, I have NO confidence in that clown %#$. **!$%#% bum !$$*! his pants when the lights are bright.
Melky and his clutch hits will be missed...
It wasn't just Melky for Vazquez straight up. They gave up what Keith Law says will be a "top 5 prospect" for the Braves in Vizcaino too. But from all reports, Cashman made out like a bandit so we'll see...
DSK is correct and I do not fault him for feeling this way, because I currently need a new set of sheets.
JV is not going to last long. Yankee fans have very good memory, and this guy needs to start off on the right foot, or else he's done. He was terriblewith the White Sox in crunch time, he was terrible the first time around, and so what makes us think he won't be better this time? I'm not rooting forthis dude to fail, but history has a huge argument. If JV does have a stellar if not decent season, I will proudly spend my $17.99 at my local Modell'sand buy his player t-shirt.
I don't like that %@@%% at all bro...he went out like a sucka in those playoffs. With his weak $$@. I'll be rootin' for him sincehe's on my team but I have my doubts about his bum $$@...Originally Posted by KingFoamNYC

Speakin' about that...I REALLY hope Girardi does the right thing and has Hughes (NOT JOBA) starting from the jump. Phil Hughes is a"stahtin' pitcha"...keep Joba in the bullpen as a setup guy to Mo.Originally Posted by KingFoamNYC
And our rotation 1. CC 2. A.J 3. Andy 4. Vasquez 5. Hughes

So many people leaving and no one really buzz worthy (other than Granderson) coming in

Gives them the option to resign Damon and have an OF capable of having 25 HR's a piece.
*shrugs* the flame suit is always on.
