So Stadium, CP 92 and 93, Sportsman, Snow Beach, Cycle, Rafting, Polo Golf, Polo Country, HiTech, P Racing, and Tennis lines are all Polo Sport.
I wanted Stadium to be a part of it and it was the main reason Polo Sport was made according to the RL app.
Wow.

Not Polo SPort: Polo USA , Uni, Suicide ski line prior to 1991, RPL 1991, Polo Athletic Dept 1991, Polo Bear, Polo Crest , Casino, Cross flags.

All you Polo Sport haters can give me your stadium popovers for free because its Polo Sport. lmao

none of that stuff was labeled polo sport. Polo sport label dropped around 1996. Aside from a few nice pieces polo sport was the begining of a decline for ralph lauren. Most Of the pieces just had that generic polo sport logo on it. Sometimes it seems like the current staff at ralph lauren doesnt know the history of the company

I agree with ya but the app says different. All that stuff I mentioned was Polo Sport according to the RL magazine article in the app.
The branded Polo Sport line started in 1996. But the Polo Sport patch was on the Snow Beach and the Polo Cup tennis etc.

I will say this about the Polo sport debate; If RALPH says xxx was Polo Sport, than that's what it is.
So that is the question; did Ralph or his son David have any input on that history laid out on the app, or was it written by the intern and shoved through?

I'm glad all those iconic themes are under Polo Sport.

It would make it easier for Polo to sell the division separately .
If they want to make money but still keep Ralph Lauren an American brand, they can sell polo sport to keiring or LVMH.

Imagine those ski and stadium lines being made in France.
It will save the luxury aesthetic that all the factory stores eroded.
Move over moncler. The white circle ski is back with the graphic on the back and its made in France.

Then the American leg could just brand their clothes as Ralph Lauren.
The French or Italian owners will brand it as Polo Sport.

Make a fortune and keep the brand in America and streamline the product line all at once.


The name polo would be discontinued. But people respect the name Ralph Lauren more than Polo already.
They won't lose much. The stores don't even have Polo branding anymore.

If I was Ralph's son, I would be taking very much care making sure the polo sport line was done very well.
Only the best sportswear items would have the polo sport label. More lower priced or lower grade items would be under the yellow polo tag.

It is a valuable spinoff that would not hurt the company.

But then again i know some of ya here consider that second jacket a grail and will journey to an outlet at the other side of the globe with a 50% coupon to buy this jacket. Then flick it up on here with a bear hat with the bear wearing the same jacket. Lol

94 is the first lo sport show that is the official debut...and it was played by 96!!

rl is owned by nestle/ferrrero a Swiss company and the worlds largest food company, lvmh and kering are chump change compared to that...polo is already a European company...its been over for over 20 years...at least we got this run before we dead...time to move on again!!

I read they only own a stake in the company that provides ralph lauren's fragrances.

"Nestlé also owns a 30% stake in L'Oreal, which owns the Body Shop, Maybelinne, Garnier, Vichy, Olay, and perfumes produced for Ralph Lauren, YvesSaintLaurent, Giorgio Armani, Diesel, Lacoste, and Hugo Boss."

RL has their own stock. Its publicly owned. They cannot by law have an owner. They are owned by share holders.

I was never a fan of Polo Sport, but I really do like what RL did with the outdoor capsule. The colors addition of polo sport branding to high quality items was incredible.

I'm still not sold on the sweater because of the orange, but the Polo Sport font is the best feature.

I would love for RL to continue this collection some form.

They went public in 96 and started cutting the graphics on items to save money.
Share holders wanted more revenue and less costs on manufacturing.
Screen printing graphics were expensive but lucrative.
They decided a simple branding was adequate like DKNY was doing.
Big mistake as many saw this time as the decline of Polo Sportswear.

The goal is to keep Polo Sport and still make the artistic graphics and block colors
a staple again. Not on every item. But 50 percent would be good.

I guess they were not being revisionist. It clearly looks like the hurdler graphic is wearing a polo sport
branded tank top.

Polo Sport will be great if they bring back artistic graphics again with the polo sport tag, on at least 50 percent of the
product line. I would be putting together an art dept just for Polo Sport. Looking for illustrators and graphic designers.
Ralph's father was a painter. Shame on that board for dropping the graphic style.

First time in Lifetime something like that almost happened this past year. Having grown up with the Original good stuff and then being more selective as get older, came across The Bear on a graphic wearing exact same outfit owned. Laughed and then thought real hard about buying.
Passed (maybe at big throwaway discount).
