I haven’t played Wukong yet nor have I followed or care about the politics involving the game. I don’t know what the issue was but as soon as people start talking about a game being woke (there’s another acronym that has started being used but I don’t remember what it is) I ignore all discourse, I’d rather play and form my own opinion. My bad if you were trying to make another point but I saw people online pissed about Wukong but for reasons that don’t have anything to do with how it plays, story, boss fights, etc.

That said, it’s still a full fledged game, not a DLC. I personally would have liked to see Infinite Wealth get a nomination.

I mean that critically, it's an outlier from the rest of the nominees. It's got a metacritic score of 81, far below the rest of the nominees and other games.

That said, it's the biggest game out of China, ever(?). So, one could look at its inclusion as a way to attract more viewers out of that market to the TGA's. You know they want to have larger and larger audience every year.

That's why I think you should be looking at Wukong with a huge side-eye if you're thinking Erdtree's nomination is just to suck up to FROM.

But, like I said, it's up to the judges. Geoff doesn't make the picks. So who knows?

I think the hang up on DLC is silly. Like, you'd rather have a lesser, derivative FromSoft title over the real thing just because of the DLC distinction.

I love FromSoft. But that is foul! Its a slight to other development teams.

Just create a new category. Might even make some more effort on what DLC should be.

Are you saying studios would put out stonger DLC to get TGA nominations? Because that wouldn't happen.
This. Phantom Liberty received huge praise last year and surely would have beat out something in that category last year but DLC wasn’t allowed to be voted on.

Jeff's been a judge since the beginning of TGA's. Whatever clarification came out this week wasn't some new rule.

The Witcher Blood and Wine won best RPG at 2016 TGA . It's a DLC. Phantom Liberty was eligible.

2016 was a while ago but I probably felt the same way. My issue this year is that there are other games that are worthy of a nomination. If this was a weak year and you needed to get a total of 6 nominations then go ahead and throw it in there but this year you had Infinite Wealth and Silent Hill 2 that sit at 89 and 86 on Metacritic. Why not give them a nomination? Hell if we’re being honest, we should probably already have had a “best DLC/expansion” category. The nominations are already out though, it is what it is. Hopefully we get some good reveals.

Nothing gets shown for free on The Game Awards or Summer Games Fest. You have to pay based on how long your AD or trailer is and the position it comes within the show.

Also, a DLC has been available for GOTY for forever. The rules weren't changed for Erdtree. Hell even the DICE awards (Where only devs vote) from the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences allows any and all games to be nominated for GOTY. The only disqualifier is a remaster of something.

I feel like the debate here is does there need to be a DLC category? Which I think there should be. And additionally, do people think Erdtree took up another spot of something more deserving? However, there are panels of people who get together, discuss, debate and whittle down the nominations to get the finalists. So it’s not like someone just slid it in there. I expect it to be up for the DICE GOTY as well.

As much as I personally loved the game, do I think Erdtree should win? No.

Would I have liked to see Silent Hill nominated especially after it got nominated for best direction? Absolutely.

My nom list would have been:
Wukong
Rebirth
Metaphor
Silent Hill
Animal Well
Astro Bot

Looks like the M.2 drive in my PS5 crapped out on me.
I've done pretty much everything and still can't access my games, or even delete them.
When I reformatted it, it said that the drive may not be fast enough(something it didn't do when I first installed it)

It's wild having to just use console storage for now, I can maybe squeeze 4 games on there:smh::lol:

Which M.2 ssd were you using?

I don't think there is enough DLC/expanisions year in and year out to carry that category.

It would just be another one of those categories that gets read off in one of those rapid fire segments anyway.

Maybe. We’ve had categories that only had 3 nominations before

This year we had SotE, FF XVI The Rising Tide, MK1 Khaos Reigns, Destiny 2 Final Shape, Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail, Diablo IV Vessel of Hatred, Persona 3 Reload Episode Aigis The Answer

If this go through, I really hope Sony doesn’t try and get cute with the multiplatform releases.

GT7 fans... the patch is up... 32GB! 😱
Pre-download now... the installation will be activated tomorrow!

Thanks for the alert, need to queue that up via the app today.

I've been so smitten with the clear glass filter that the pro puts on PS4 games, the only PS5 title I have played so far has been GT7. Wanted to make sure I could tell the difference between base PS5, Pro pre-update and the w/ the update. Should be interesting. So far only noticed the super-locked 120fps with ray tracing mode. VR improvements seemed less noticeable imho... and just a bit snappier overall.

Which heatsink did you use with that guy?

Needs to be said... there is no mention of a Pro patch in the article, so we'll just have to wait for the patch notes for any confirmation.
🤔

Yeah, when we saw the 32GB patch, the speculation went wild on what it could include... but with the video only showing 5 new cars and the article mentioning 2 new Sophy tracks, some new rims and some new Scapes, it all didn't add up. Surely, there's more to it.
