The Official NBA Thread: Spurs vs Knicks Game 1 on ABC 8:30 ET

Gobert was lowkey invisible this series until last night. Held up on switches better, but was a complete negative on offense.

And Lakers helped out a lot with Rudy’s dominating performance.

LeBron showed his age and Luka was hobbled, so they Didn’t take advantage of him offense and didn’t help with the rebounding on the defensive end.

And the rest of the Lakers just weren’t good, except for Rui who had a good shooting game. With JJ keeping them small at all times, and the rest of T-Wolves missing 40 three point shots (yes, you read that right), it was a recipe for Rudy to clean up on the offensive glass.

Literally been posting in the buck all year. Time to wipe his face and put his clothes back on

He’s got 4 DPOys. He should have 2. Not his fault. Slight scammer.

You get no props beating a Russell Westbrook led team.

And the Chris Paul Clippers never got past the second round against anyone and were clearly on the decline after 2015. Rudy’s Jazz “ending” them isn’t really much of an accomplishment (or even really accurate).

B Sox B Sox is the Rudy Gobert trade still “the worst of all time”? 🤔

The Timberwolves had by far, had their most success as a franchise with him on their roster. Just wondering.

You're right he wasn't cracking 30 minutes and was pretty much invisible but I think people will forever not get that just having a guy that size with good defensive instincts parked in the paint makes a difference in a way numbers can't capture.

But this is my overall point, Wolves are very deep since last year and have the roster to go all the way. I'll even say the thing holding them back since last year is Ant taking that next step to fulfilling his potential and being the best guard in the league (or second best with SGA).

Also, really happy for Randle/Divicenzo, especially Randle who got a lot of hate for Knicks fans cause he had the the lead guy which isn't the best role for him. Rooting for the Wolves to go all the way at this point.

If they end u playing the Warriors in the next round, it should be interesting. Warriors were DOA when AD was with the Lakers because he could sit in the paint and shut everything down. And the Lakers didn't have the quality of defenders that the T'Wolves do along the perimeter.

Also very curious if Ant can translate his success vs the Lakers defense against the Warriors (or Rockets). Lakers were giving him a soft zone for most of the series until last night when they doubled him hard.

Luka trade obviously trumps it, but it’s still laughably terrible

Giving up all that to have zero chance at a title is wild. He’s not going to consistently be 6 inches taller than everybody on the opposing team going forward.

Gobert trade was an overpay, but look how important it was to get Ant in playoff games.

Connelly put together a really strong eight man rotation.

With that said, I hope the CBA dismantles them.

This what EYE was saying from the jump 🤷🏾‍♂️

Bron and Laker stan’s need to sit this one out and go to the badminton thread. Nasty work.

So you prove my point and try to discredit him...he's a scammer but he's the best defender of the past decade and pretty much any roster he's on wins 50 games.

Ended the Chris Paul Clippers...
Ended the Westbrook Thunder...
Wins 50 games every year...

But he's still a scammer for some reason. I'd be fine with the nuance about Rudy if people were willing to give that nuance to anything else but they use it selectively cause he's French, liteskin and kind of a *****.

Rudy is the most overhated player I’ve seen in a long time. Easy target.

Luka Doncic hit a tough GW over Rudy in the WCF to get to the finals….and the majority of nba media/fans called the man a bum.

Also just won a silver medal in the Olympics. Say what you want, but he’s part of these teams for a reason. A pros, pro.

Modern Day Mutumbo 8o

The Gobert trade was good because those picks them gave up are all going to be late first round picks anyway.

And the Wolves absolutely could win it all. They should have honestly won the West last year, they had bad execution down the stretch of those Mavs games and some ridiculous shotmaking from Luka/Kyrie.

I think they'll cook whoever comes out the Warriors/Rocket series at this point and be back in the WCF. Not sure how you can claim a team that will be in back to back WCF (the real conference) has no shot at winning it all...
