The Official NBA Season Thread: NBA Cup Night

FT shooting is unacceptable. I'm not mad at anything else besides that. They bricked like 9 or 10. They win if they just made 4 more. Those are free. Gotta make those.

Good game though. Felt like James had more points, he looked like James to me. Love Norman Powell. So glad he's getting his flowers finally. Buddy been a dope role player for a long time now.

Nba reffing is hella inconsistent. Just saw the non call against DFox. Dyson Daniels slapped his hand on the lasr step back and no call. But Buddy Hield slapped Coffee’s hand shooting a three at the end of the 3rd and he gets FTs

Nba’s gotta determine if hand is part of the ball or not

That's just The Wall being The Wall.

hot take re warriors:

Good depth, good regular season team but I don’t see a champion here unless they trade for a 2nd star.

Also: Melton is way too important to this team. He gets hurt way too much to be relied on to close games for the entire season. That Dray/Wiggins/Melton/Steph 4 piece is a deadly closing lineup though.

Plus Melton is known to disappear during big games/ playoffs

We see who they are when they actually play decent teams.

I got sucked into a game-by-game highlight reel of Dirk's 2011 title run tonight. That dude was just absurd. He was hitting shots from angles that nobody today even attempts. His overall FG% was only 49%, but he was 46/94 on threes/FTs.

It's a hot take to basically say you don't see a championship team in this current version of the Warriors?

No disrespect.

what the hell is a finals mvp vote

nba got an mvp electoral college system ?

Only three players have ever received MVP votes on the losing side: Jerry West (won FMVP in its first year awarded), LeBron (2015, 4 votes), Shawn Kemp (1996). Eleven writers vote, and they have to submit within ten minutes of the end of the last game. In 1996: Kemp got 3, Rodman got 2, and Jordan got the other 6. Let me know when Zion makes the playoffs.

This should not be a hot take

Haliburton should take some time off to get healthy. That hamstring injury from eleven months ago is clearly still bothering him.

Best title runs by an individual that I was able to witness live:
  1. Dirks championship run - it was so magical watching him beat all the best teams in the league while being an underdog and having a history of falling short in the playoffs.
  2. Kawhi's championship run (got to see it in person living in Toronto, went to 6 playoff games and witnessed "the shot" in the lower bowl while wearing a Sixers jersey). He was the closest thing to Jordan that I've wintnessed.
  3. Butler's bubble run - This really is the most accurate portrayal on Jimmy that year he was a mad man on a mission to murder anyone on the way
  4. LeBron's 2016 run - really, there's nothing more to be said here. What made that run even sweeter for me personally was that I was watching it on the PS3 NBA app, the app that I was involved with closing the NBA deal with as a sales rep. We rented a suite at the Wynn in Las Vegas ($20k a night) and turned it into meeting rooms to meet high level execs for the biggest Media companies in the world. Turner execs came in and I had no idea they had the NBA in mind. Once they mentioned it, my team (knowing who I am) all turned to me to lead the convo knowing they were doing me a solid . But watching that run in that app made it so much more special.

Hali, Harden, CP (I know the latter two are older but still), hamstring injuries takes a really long time to heal since it's a big muscle. Which is why I am quite concerned about Maxey.

It may make sense to trade him now at his highest value and give the keys to McCain.

I'M KIDDING!

You didn’t seem to bring this up a week ago when he played the Knicks 🤔
