This funny as hell in contrast to LeBron’s 10 point streak

We've dissected so many different angles but has the leaguewide parity of the last 5-6 years been mentioned much in the ratings discussion?

Thinking about it, the league's highest rated eras in recent memory were during the Bulls dynasty, Bron forming the Heatles and when we got Warriors-Cavs every year :lol

As awesome as the parity has been for the purists and serious fans of the sport, it's the casual viewers that really drive the ratings and casuals historically love dynasties.

The more parity we've seen in the Finals and winners, the more the ratings have slipped.

Not saying that the league needs to legislate parity or anything like that at all, since I personally don't think the ratings are all that important big picture just yet, but they'll eventually need to do something to counter some of the prevailing narratives and perception of the league at large.

Last night when they played highlights of the Raptors vs Hornets, Chuck said “Scottie Barnes is one of the best star players you’ve never heard of”
Barnes won rookie of the year and is an all star…

Then when they showed Simon’s game winner, him and Shaq kept repeating “Oh you can’t give up a game winning layup. That’s terrible..” When the host asked what the Nuggets should’ve done differently and showed the replay, Chuck froze and said “They should’ve moved. That’s terrible..”
But I bet if it was a 3, they would’ve b****ed and moaned like Shaq was about the Celtics vs Bulls 3 point shooting.

They hate the game. They don’t watch the games. But hey Chuck makes funny joke that Shaq laughs at so they must be kept on tv at all costs..

It's television.

they will always prioritize Entertainment over basketball analysis.

Why doesn't the NFL have this problem on air of needing to sacrifice in depth analysis in the name of entertainment?

They get both and continously flourish and grow regardless.

I don't think NBA viewers need things to be dumbed down to keep folks attention when that's never the case for the current king of North American sports.

Adam listening to the small markets when the NBA has never been about parity. |l

I think a lot of people discount how trash the gameplay looks at times. Some people want more than step back 3's. Also, honestly, a specific crowd of people have stopped watching because of their views and wanting players to shut up and dribble.

People complain about the number of threes being taken like the nba is just julian newman launching 30’ step backs because he can’t get past his defender

But sure, let’s go back to a game where we’d dump the ball to gobert and watch him post up 45 times a game

i think fans of 10-12 teams now preferring to lose plays a factor in decling viewership

I would think so too, but tanking has been a part of teams’ strategies forever and we weren’t having this type of hysteria over viewership. Lakers, who probably bring in a significant amount of tv ratings, were tanking under byron scott and the viewership wasn’t an issue

I think rolaholic rolaholic might be onto something. Parity is good for competition but maybe people want to watch/hate watch nba dynasties.
