The Official NBA Season Thread: Fries Discourse | Mavs vs Jazz

I think y'all gotta realize the majority of people don't want an informative basketball show. They want the casual aspect. A lot of the fans think the same way Charles and Shaq do.
I don't think you need to cater to casuals cause they will watch anyways.

Notice how no other sport has this nonsense with their studio shows ? Never heard MLB, NHL, EPL, or any NCAA sports have their studio shows have the people actually say the game is horrible and fans shouldn’t want. How many times has Charles and Shaq done this? These guys aren’t helping the game.

Us as fans have a lion share of the blame for this.

We have created a culture of putting players from the past on a pedestal with nasty narratives like ring culture and this is what we get. A bunch of old heads on TV acting like they’re Pac.

You are right but how do other sports manage to make it without the nonsense? Having causal aspects is different than taking personal shots at players and telling fans not to watch

Can’t tell you last time I’ve watched half time or post game of TNT crew

It’s old and regurgitated crap

I’ll catch a clip if it hits the TL but Ive been don actively watching it like I used to years ago.

Tired photoshop pics, showing tweets from viewers, and subpar analysis Im straight. I get enough of that in here 😂

Who invests into these created storylines more? Casuals or die hards? They hit mainstream media the morning after the game and become talking points for weeks. Die hards participate too but when you hit the barbershop dudes ain't gonna be talking about Jokic's lack of rim protection, you know?

some real analysis..less jokes.. less shttin on the game.. more knowledgeable guys who actually watch games…

maybe it’s just me.. but i watch most games with my headphones in listening to music instead of the broadcast…shhts just corny…both networks

Think the closest to that is NBA Today with Malika bae and Chiney bae.

They do still engage in some of the nonsense since Perk the Perv is a staple there.

Have not watched a single episode of Inside the NBA since the playoffs started.

Their shtick is beyond tired.

i am once again OUT on Dillon Brooks
- Dillon may be out of here

Dillon Brooks was probably the worst offensive player in the league. If there are 450 players in the league he was #450. Career low splits across the board for a guy who already was never efficient. He needs to dial it back in the interviews.

Or not  But you only hurt yourself putting a spotlight on you & not performing. Continuing to brick shots while the other team’s wing continues to put up numbers.

I don’t even understand chirping at a guy who has scored more points than anyone.

If he was talking **** and backing it up that would be one thing. He's talking **** and embarrassing himself.

Coupé It Coupé It STAY ON THAT SIDE

Some of the local stations usually do exactly what y'all are asking for and you don't watch those either.
My primary NBA media consumption is podcasts. I've given up on TV being better. It's only gonna get more sensationalist

If y’all really wanna fix NBA media you have to admit Bron is the GOAT. Until then we will be stuck with this dumpster fire.

I agree, we want to tear people down to build up others when people should be able to be equally great in their eras. lawdog1 lawdog1 , myself and others are old enough to remember that the era comparison game has always been part of the NBA (people only recently acknowledge 90s ball when if you lived during that time the 80s was considered better because of Magic and Larry) but with everyone having a platform (twitter, and other social media) convos have become really dark and players feed into it themselves which is not great (this podcast era from former players isn’t good unless you bring more to the table like KG with his stories and not like JJ who acts like he a first ballot hofer)

I really expected the Cavs bigs to be better in this series.

i think most people didn't expect the knicks to be as good as they are
stifling defense, bully offense, deep bench

all i been reading on here was cavs in 5, cavs in 6, etc.
knicks beat someone's *** and it's always the other team that's underachieving

I miss barbershop talk. Was definitely appreciated. Now everyone has a studio (which I don’t blame them).

Evan Mobley has a lot of potential but I honestly don’t see the dog in him for him to be a superstar

I used to love watching Inside the NBA, but it seems they’ve succumbed to hot takes and it’s clear they don’t watch the games. I haven’t watched their show in a good while

My lord we need a 3 pt specialist

Really thought Dean Wade would be that guy but he fell out of the rotation

i get that.. and i agree…

but we gotta find middle ground, we need balance…

sneaking in a segment for legs( or whatever the tnt equivalent is) on air won’t hurt nobody…

i can’t remember the specifics, but i remember candace parker straight schooling shaq on modern pick and roll defense…

i watch the most basketball out of my friends group, but ill admit i don’t watch as much as y’all,.. and even a “casual” like me could easily grasp the topic at hand…

while hofer shaq doubled down on being wrong…

i remember there was a time the people talking about sports made me feel smarter..or that i learned sumn from the segment…
