The Official NBA Season Thread: NBA Cup Begins | Embiid Debut | Klay Return

It's mid august, can someone explain why Fultz, Osman, and Lonnie are not signed yet? Also Okoro being a restricted free agent.

It's strange that we might start the season with them not being on a roster yet.
Fultz- Unreliable and always hurt

Osman/Lonnie- Fringe rotation dudes so it’ll be cheaper to fill their roster spots with younger players and 2 way guys

Okoro- Makes too much on the restricted offer for what he provides, another situation where you can fill his role for cheaper

These type of players will get picked up once the season starts and players get hurt or the younger ones prove not to be ready

KD. Jokic if he wants to. Kareem did it. Hakeem did it. Mutumbo did it. Ewing was close. Duncan. You still have to earn/ be good enough to get a contract. Ask wall and cousins. Melo

🤔

Idk how Kareem did it. He was playing more games than players today as a 40 year old. Partly why that scoring record seemed impossible to beat.

Ewing and Hakeem were completely done. Washed.

KD not your typical 7 footer

Jokic will prob retire on top.

Dont move the goalposts. KD had broken a foot and torn an Achilles. He loves to hoop so he puts in the work (along with modern technology) to come back and be great. Some guys care, some don’t regardless of era

Mans sounding like Sterling in that Anderson Cooper interview.

Anything to prop up Wardell, smh.
Nah that man made choices. It has nothing to do with Steph. A man needs disciple. Magic isn’t a fan maybe he wins 2 more titles. He’s not a victim

🤷🏾‍♂️

Brazy that Bean went to 3 finals in a row and won back 2 back w/o a top 75 player by his side. Think one of the only all time greats that can make that claim...built different.

Listen I give Bron his flowers. He is number 2 in my list. There are certain things that stick out in mind for him not being the goat.

4 titles in 20+ years.
more all star caliber players than Jordan ever had.
quitting against the celts in 2009.
Jumping from team to team to get said rings.
ect, ect.

KD is still different. He's got a finesse jump shooting game like Dirk where he can play till 40.

The GOATs care. Regardless of the era. The previous eras had far more disadvantages, idk how you can argue that.

This was literally MJ’s 2nd game of his entire career against the reigning DPOY (Moncrief) and they couldn’t do nothing with him. Just listen to the announcers. They are awestruck. To say his competition was as good as Lebrons is crazy. Lebron would have made these dudes heads explode. MJ was ahead of his time, but we must admit his time ain’t these times

I want to show you Allen Iverson’s early games, and how the announcers were reacting. They ain’t EVER see a crossover like that. Blew their minds. But they adjusted. Sidney Moncrief was nice man. wtf? Him and guys like Michael Cooper are like the prototypical defensive wings you’d see today. If not better.

It’s almost 1 on 1 similar to this. This is smack dab in Michael Jordan’s prime btw. A lot of guys still playing. It’s not that long ago. These things flow together (Kobe, Ai, KG, Duncan) were 90s players too. Just babies in Jordans era. ****, Tim won a ring the year Jordan left. Put that in perspective.

Side note, when you get a chance go watch rookie AI score 40-50 points for like an 8 game straight stretch. Insanity.

It’s funny when yall watch knuckleheads, and players from the 00s tell you cats like John Stockton gave them problems when you enters the league. Athletic freak cats like baron Davis, AI etc.

Yet we live in a world where a fat Serbian who can’t jump an inch dominates the league.

Make it make sense

People gotta stop using to the top 75 as some gauge to upgrade or downgrade someone’s legacy. Its disingenuous AF.

Kobe won back to back titles with a multiple time allstars, multiple all-NBAers,a former DPOY, and 6th man of the year.He doesn’t get kudos cause they weren’t top 75

facts. ODOM one of the most versatile players in league history. Pau a HOF. Artest was DPOY year convo year and year...

In terms of the machine making sure everything is perfectly in place for him to succeed? 👀

Perfectly in place. And he failed a few times. In embarrassing fashion in 2011, namely.

This is getting besides the point. But it’s super clear to me that Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time. Still. And that’s not a knock on LeBron 🤷🏾‍♂️

Tbh, the convo being so close strictly based off of longevity and social media is annoying to me. But I understand the climate we’re in.
