And it’s weird to me that it seems like the foreign/American distinction has become a bigger deal to people than it was in the past.

Hakeem, Mutombo, Yao, Nash, for example, were promoted and marketed like all other NBA players while in the league. People didn’t get fixated on them being foreign (maybe Yao a bit) like happens now.

Outside of Hakeem they're all overrated.

If Nash looked and carried himself like Allen Iverson (but played like Nash) would people still discredit his MVPs? I doubt it.

His Nationality and "Presentation" (More this) definitely mattered.

i thought you were talking aboht the strapped on heart rate monitor one Chet has worn before and was about to comment about cliche internet toxic masculinity but this one, yea that’s a sports bra. No 2 ways around it and literally no reason they cant just add 18 more inches of that same lycra spandex polyester to the bottom so its just a compression shirt with whatever tech exists in it.
