I played late last night and only did the story mode

I got 3 chapters in

Man story mode is great so far

I must be ******ed then because I couldn't find story mode last night in the few minutes I tested it out before bed I only had "one-player" and "faction" highlighted. Is it because the game wasn't fully installed or something?

Damn. Must be a age or ease of play thing. MVC 3 is one of the worse fighting games of all time IMO. The combo system was made for the 4-10 age group. SF4 is cool but just a step backwards gameplay wise. 99% of SF4 players couldn't win in 3rd Strike competitively. No shortcut inputs or auto correct, in other words no cpu hand holding.

Oh no you're right. Game is trash. 1-2 seconds of actual interaction and 70 seconds of memorized combos. Fights have no flow.

Yep an exclusive too , that's probally gonna shut all fighting games down until mvc4. I think that new tekken is gonna come and go as well

Mvc4 will never happen. Capcom doesn't have rights to marvel characters anymore. That contract came to be at a time marvel was going out of business. Now it would cost more to by rights for ironman than capcom has since now they are the ones going down hill

I wouldn't doubt it since cap pulled mvc2 off of marketplace and ps store .


Also what up most of fatalities being extra gory and involving dismembering your opponets head or torso in some way . I remeber fatalities use to have a lil comedy or corniness to them and even had a little bit of character relation .

I'm diggin Raiden.  Watched JWong do some Raiden combos.  I'm glad more people in the FGC are picking up this game.

I can see that from a character variety perspective but it's not fun watching the gameplay to me. It's literally watching someone do the same move over and over. It turns into one player game.

Can't argue with the Nintendo crowd. Their loyalty to the big N borders on insane. Smash is a cute little fighting game though. Same league as Mario Party IMO.

It's clearly nostalgia that has Marvel 2 so high on its pedestal. In terms of age, I grew up with The capcom arcade scene and the titles they produced for Marvel from the punisher beat em up to Xmen children of the atom. My love for street fighter simultaneously occurred for my love of marvel in the early to mid 90's because of these games capcom made. I purchased MVC2 the day it came out for my dreamcast from Funcoland and I still own this game as well as my dreamcast in perfect working condition. I'm also ranked by iPlaywinner as semi-pro in Alpha 3, as well as MVC2 and SSF2 Turbo HD remix.

Now that I've made my opinion just a tad but more valid, IMO marvel 3 is one of the greatest fighting games ever. The control scheme created by Niitsuma came about from tatsunoku vs. Capcom and is relatively simple to use but IMPOSSIBLE to master. Marvel 3 came out of nowhere and had been 10 years since marvel 2 dropped when Marvel 3 came on the scene. The game is special because of all it took for it to become a reality. The time that had passed since Marvel and capcom collaborated and the new titles and characters that had came into prominence between that time. There was also a ton of foreshadowing in that game as to what characters marvel would be focusing on for their movie universe...regardless gameplay wise that game is so in depth and x-factor gives it to where even the best player has to give their all in a match. Look at the high level play in Marvel 3 and then watch marvel 2. Marvel 2 is street fighter alpha with no rules and a tag system. Sprites and all. Marvel 3? The production value, the wink and nods to capcom and marvels history, spiderman calling Magneto "Ericccc!!!" When you tag him out, Iron man calling Captain America "Steve!" when you tag, deadpool's launcher being a dragon punch and screaming "shoryuken!" I can go on forever about how tongue and cheek is but eh, to each it's own. And J. Wong is a prominent SF player and one of the greatest Marvel 2 players and he played A LOT of Marvel 3.

J. Wong also played a lot of SF3 and plays a ton of SF4. Daigo as well. SF3 didn't gain notoriety until SF anniversary collection. Nobody wanted to play 3rd strike in '99....everyone was playing alpha 3 and Marvel 1 in the arcades.

Excuse my wall of text but I have one more point to add in terms of Marvel and capcom's history as well as their future. They have a good relationship but the Marvel vs. Capcom series is built off of Xmen vs. SF. Marvel wants all their properties from here on out to reflect their successful movie universe being put together. Because they don't have the film rights to xmen, they don't want to feature them in prominent advertisement outside of comic crossover events and their ongoing series'. What I urge you to consider is that Sony is funding Capcom for SF 5....Sony also has a great relationship with Square Enix who has a very anticipated 3rd installment of Kingdom Hearts. A game that's popularity is fueled by Disney characters. Marvel characters are Disney characters....kingdom hearts will only appear on the PS4. So Sony has a great relationship with capcom and Disney....hmm............

Yes USF4 is coming for the PS4, not sure about date.

And SFV is exclusive, hopefully by next year this time. Capcom can't let MKX by "the main game" at tournaments.

I agree with the graphics and fan service MVC 3 provides. The gameplay is where it fails. MVC 3 was doomed from the jump. MVC 2 is loved because it's broken. 3 being built from scratch changed the way it plays. The assist are slow, X Factor like Ultra Combos provides a comeback mechanic and reward for getting beat down, the combos are all built in and it lacks the imagination to find combo potential throughout the cast. Those are just a few of my issues.

MVC 2 lasted 10 years throughout majors and you can still find new tech for odd teams today. I recently saw Serv Bot/Mega Man tech vs Magneto I've never seen before. I respect the opinions of the MVC 3 supporters though. I loved TVC (online on Wii sucked hard) and wish the exact feel and gameplay mechanics made it into MVC 3. Y'all don't know bout that Ippatsuman/Saki team.
