The Official Mortal Kombat X Thread (KOMBAT PACK 2 AVAILABLE NOW FOR PSN & XBL)

MK has more clout then Tekken to be honest. MK is not in the least bit "underrated" don't know if you remember how huge MK was in the 90's. The movie(s)....

The whole reason there is an ESRB rating on games....

OK it might be just me, but you clearly don't understand the meaning of "overrated" / "underrated". Just because something had an impact doesn't make it overrated. What is this????

Mortal Kombat had more than an impact, the whole reason games have ratings on them is because Senator Joseph Lieberman went to congress to complain about the new video game phenomenon where people were getting their spine ripped out. A senator, went in front of congress...

These youngins don't understand. What Mortal Kombat did for video games period was legendary. Before you could go on the Internet and look up how to perform someone's fatality, they were hear say. You had to go into an arcade and literally see someone perform a fatality to know if it was real or not. So many rumors from putting in a special input when John Tobias popped up and did "toasty!" for smoke to come out, to upper cutting someone onto the hooks in the acid pit stage for ermac to appear and challenge you, to doing a stage fatality in the living Forrest where the trees eat you, the krypt from MK3 :eek these rumors had me spending literally $10's of dollars of quarters a week in my arcade. Mortal Kombats notoriety comes from the fact that everyone had a "cousin's sisters friend" who did a secret fatality or unlocked a secret character that no one else at the time knew too much about. And you were forced to believe it because the game was so ahead of its time and so mysterious. What you know about the Super Nintendo MK1 having brown blood? Reptile, Error Macross, Noob Saibot, many of MK's most famous characters came from the rumor mill that was the 90's arcade scene. Mortal kombat WAY too big in the 90's arcade to be any type of underrated....

No point in even explaining it bro. "No internet? What's that mean?"

If you've never had a Nintendo power or went to blockbuster to rent games / look at the gamepros for codes and hoped to God you either wrote it correctly or remembered it, I can't respect your videogame opinion

THEY DONT UNDERSTAND!!!!

But you called MK underrated. And my rebuttal to you is that Mortal Kombat made too big of an impact to be "underrated". How is something that is well known underrated first of all? Then you said Tekken is more well known then Mortal Kombat?? :rollin someone is showing there age, aren't you a reptile fan? You know anything about the reptile clues from MK1 whippersnapper?? :lol jokes man, I'm messing with you

SSB isn't fighting game. What kind of fighting game doesn't have combos???? And it has characters from non fighting games. That's the main reason....

Ssb doesn't have combos? :rollin

MK9 had Freddy Kruger, and kratos

The game is played at EVO

Just stop :lol

Mortal Kombat had a huge cultural impact in 90's U.S.A because it was controversial and fresh. Definitely one of the most defining waves of the 90's.However, it never had an impact on the fighting game scene, even in the 90's. I'm not saying it's a bad series, it's one of my favorites, but it was never taken that seriously in the fighting game community. Things started to get better with Mortal Kombat 9 and I'm really looking forward to the newest installment.

Personally, I don't consider Smash Bros. a fighting game for a laundry list of reasons; It's a really fun and well made party game. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, though, so if you do that's okay too.

Yea I remember when I saw Sheeva for the first time in one of those video game magazines back in 95

The fact that YOU cant combo in the game says more than enough

Also you are saying that the first fighting games werent fighting games with that logic
